figured the connection with tahoe meant I should pipe in.....not sure bout them lights, but there would appear to be lots of evidence that dark means dark...and it is important for your plants to have dark....in flowering anyhow. I small heater is used by many including me to maintain temps....cheers and good luck!

i watched a video on pot tv with marijuana man talking about how UV makes a plant produce more trichomes and in the end THC, supposidly this guy put a lizard light that emits UV light into his grow room during flowering for 5 hours a day and it helped produce some amazing THC content

wondering the same thing, I know it's an old thread, .. but anyone has ever tried? it would be nice to be able to go in the room during dark hours and being able to see without disturbing the plants, it would help keeping the room warmer in the winter when the HIDs are off... who knows maybe the light spectrum of a moonlight bulb might be beneficial !

have you tried green lighting? a simple green party bulb you can get for $1 or $2 just about anywhere will work fine for that.

not that I need to go in there that much when it's dark hours hehe ,.. mostly for the heat though that I would use this light,,, but at the same time I started to think maybe 75w of some weak blue spectrum during dark hours might even help more growth, bigger flowers, who knows! I was wondering if anyone had experienced with this
thanks again

Hello everyone this is my first post. Been gardening on and off for fifteen yrs or so. I started out by reading Ed Rosenthal and many other books. I've never needed to post because the "search" works so well.

Here's the story I have a small chamber for flowering that always runs 12/12 it has a 90w led UFO surrounded by 12x 26w CFLs. Recently the plants that that were going in were looking a little sad so I decided they needed a bit more vegging. I didn't want much change in electric usage so I left the CFLs on 12/12 but only put 8x 6500k in. Then just plugged the UFO in so it would be on for 24/7.

Guess what? Flowers!! How is this possible? I remember reading in one of those books that a clock display in the same room was enough light to keep them from flowering.

Anyone have any experience with this? For now I put back all 12) 2700k CFLs back in but left the UFO on 24hr/day. Would this mean a higher yield because photosynthesis is always going on? Or maybe hurt density of the flowers.

Any thoughts guys?
