I'm not sure where to post this but this being "support" thought it might be the best location
I've been here awhile and it's been a great place to be, however as of late there has been one thing that continues to nag at me and I would like to address it in a respectful, mature manner.
There are trolls, yes, every forum has them and honestly to an extent they keep a forum alive and kicking. Sometimes it goes to far and things should be said to those people but often its all fun n games with no real harm done (this is after all a fun hobby for most around here).
In my many years working as a peon as well as managing people there has always been 1 pet peeve of mine publicly reprimanding people and its honestly just a good rule of thumb to keep things private. Any and all disciplinary action should always be done in private, in this case PM's.
Lately I have seen a lot of people being reprimanded in open space, this is not a very good practice and it is one I wish that staff here at RIU would look into and take into serious consideration. To openly reprimand or even "warn" someone does 2 things, it allows for a gang bang on the person because once the staff member flexes that they have the power to put someone in slow mode and comment on whatever behavior is out of line the rest of the forum can than gang up on them as well (and do, I see it all over). This also puts all of us non staff members in a very uncomfortable position, if we don't agree with a staff members take on things and this is done in the open it can and will lead to someone getting banned, where as if done in private there is a lesser chance of a staff member taking things too personal because its only viewed between the 2 parties.
Again this is a great place to hang out and I value the info here all I ask is that staff treat us with the respect we deserve (even when we don't deserve it as being staff members you should always take the high road) and keep things out of the public eye. I actually have not really ever had a run in with staff but it just annoys me to no end when I see a boss do this in person or seeing it online, lets all be adults about this.
