I am a outdoor 30 acre organic produce guy and never said I'm any kind of commercial grower with herb.. only speak true testimonial of what I've witnessed.

I used to think of leaves as being the engine that powered the whole plant. Every healthy leaf plucked means a little horsepower lost. Now cause it's hip I think of them as solar panels. That being said selective pruning and opening things up to improve airflow is the only way to go.

seems like you could cram way more bud sites into a SOG style grow with defoliating (to help prevent overcrowding/mold) might have to veg a lot longer though

I remember when all the crazy farmers were trying to convince everyone in my town organics were so much better than commercial farm grow back in the early 80s. Now organic is somewhat more popular than commercial farming in this new millennium...never get stuck in old outdated practices... always keep exploring new techniques.

If you can supply one shred of science behind "defoliation" beyond empirical observation, it would help your case greatly, but until then, I recommend you not push thesis as fact. To this point, science says defoliation is a crappy way to grow cannabis, SOG or not.

I was making a general statement about growing in general "organics" and was referring to the scientific approach to furthering the advancements in horticulture... but Sorry as it may have been misinterpreted considering the title of the thread... Sorry I was not more specific Dumme.

Because they need light for photosynthesis and they need leaves to make use of the light over wise you might aswell turn off the lights,

The person meant starving them of light, Someone even says that the plant will use its energy to grow more leaves rather than making fat buds because with the leaves it will be more productive, someone else said that you should "selective trim" meaning to trim the leaves covering the bud areas only so they can get more light and better air flow through the plants

it is pretty basic stuff plants need leaves to grow and defoliating a plant will not improve the plants growth but slow it

OK so I trimmed off half the leaves. Should I turn off half the lights? Is that what you mean?

i think the answer is in what you wrote they truly will "adapt" the Irish lad is correct but is adapting, thriving?

again someone already said what will happen is the plant will put unneeded energy into regrowing leaves instead of fattening buds, everything you read tells you that the plant needs leaves for growth

i am actually more confused with how this simple biology is escaping people.

agreed tho just crack on and do what you think is best
