Regular Fan for DIY Carbon Filter?

So I have the basic idea of how to create a DIY carbon filter... Pretty much just get some activated carbon and get in into a container that is "breathable"... So that part will not be a problem.

I don't see many details about the type of fan that is needed. I'm trying to keep cost down and am wondering if I can just use a regular fan for the scrubber. I already have a fan that I want to use, it's a personal box fan. A link is below which shows the exact fan that I have. Will this work OK for a grow room? It would be for a regular sized bedroom with 8 plants (about 800 cubic feet, plants fill about 50% of the space in the room). I don't need the scrubber to exhaust. I don't want to spend $180+ for a filter fan combo but I will if it is necessary. I am in WA state with a medical license FYI.

imo, not gonna do squat. plus that fan will have a hard time pulling any type of air flow thru the back of it with some kind of filtration medium covering it. if it does, you will be working that fan to death and will burn out in a matter of days or weeks.
booster fans are a joke too. go to amazon, buy cfm 6" fan for $80.00, buy some activated charcoal, 35.00 for 100oz (or coconut husks, supposed to work better than charcoal, same price on amazon), then go to home depot or lowes and buy materials to build your own scrubber (materials will run about 70.00. put them all together and you get this, and is totally rebuildable. ive posted the link to the scrubber I build numerous times on here.
