Regarding complete darkness???

Hello people,
I am in flowering mode now and I was wondering how literate the term "complete darkness" during the 12 hours lights off is? The reason why I ask this is because I have 2 PC fans mounted in the box as exhaust fans and they are tri-led fans. Which means that they have 3 colored led's (red, green and blue), that stay on all the time.

Would the light emitted by the led's affect the girls while they are sleeping?

if it were mine, i'd make those little lights go bye bye. esp. the red and blue. better safe than sorry.

I think its bull shit... Think about the plants that are grown outside. Ever see a very bright
full moon??? I have. What happens to those plants?? Do they hermie??? NO.. And a pretty full moon can last for 3 nights some times. So do you really need total darkness??????? I think not.

I have no proof, but the world does seem to be in agreement that there should be very minimal light. I agree that the plants get moonlight at night, but just because it happens in nature that doesn't mean it is good for our purposes. Maybe marijuana plants like a few hermies for whatever reason so they let the moonlight trigger that and of course we wouldn't want that.

Yeah, altogether the 6 leds don't put out much light but if it may cause them to go hermie then I'd rather be safe and change those fans out for ones without lights. They were extras I had laying around and I needed something to pull heat out of the box. A quick fix :blsmoke:.

Its related to the spectrum of the light emitted, not just light period. I dont really know what sort of research has been done on the sub. but I am pretty sure the "color" of the moonlight is what keeps it from interfering with the plants growth cycle.

Well i chopd of my leds from the PC FAns... as you can see from some of my pics...

And yes i think those bright lights will effect your plants because i had total darkness ! and it wasnt even dark enough !

so im guessing those leds wont be good at all !

* next full moon is on the 20th..... so plant seeds 2 days before ^^ and they will sprout heavenly ^^ *

i just used a sharpee pen to cover powerstrip lights i figure if i cant see my hand in front of me in the grow room when lights are out im good. i have had hermies show in total darkness. another strain i had outdoors was somewhat near street lights and when cars made turns(which was often)down my street headlights would shine indirectly at my girl but she never hermed and flowered properly go figure. i wonder where the truth lies on this subject. the moon can be very bright sometimes. currently i have some herm flowers on some strains im not sure the cause but it makes me wonder if it is possibly a light leak so i added another blanket over the door. has anyone done a test with 1 strain that would be interesting.
