Red Leaves / Purple Leaves

Yeah, I was not really into seeing them eating themselves either, kind of strange.

The leaves on the bottom section of each plant are still bright green, so judging by this and the fact that there are quite a few white hairs left, I think the lower buds still have a week or so left I guess. They are getting so much more light now the top colas and surrounding leaves have gone. Hoping they survive the stress of having certain sections cut off though...

You should cut those old crappy leaves away man.
I always do anyway, all they do imo is shade the buds and lower your yield and quality.:joint:

Thanks Natmoon, I always read not to remove any leaves unless they were dead though?

Looking back, I should have removed some to improve light to the lower leaves, which ones do you remove, the fan leaves or the leaves which come directly under the bud?

Fan leaves I assume as the buds take their energy from the leaves directly under the bud?

Great Buds by the way...

Thanks rizzo69,

The cold weather is what I first thought, but it's 67ish in the day with lights off & then 77ish at night with the lights on. I also use a fan to the warm air is evenly distributed around the tent.

The temps were dropping to 55 with lights off so I put a small rad in the tent which kept temps around the 65-70 mark with lights off. This did not improve matters, the larger of the three got worse and then the other two plants started to change colour.

A few of my mates are doing gorilla grows & their plants have some purple leaves, but not autumn coloured ones like mine...

Well i dont actually believe that they do.
All i think shade leaves do is protect the plant in times of harshness in an outdoor situation after flowering has begun.
I.E. present themselves as larger food for predators so they wont eat the buds, attract spiders because of their shape, store water and nutes for times of hardship, protect the buds from harsh sunlight on seriously hot days in the desert with no water.

In my cupboard none of these kind of days even exist if you know what i mean.
Obviously i cannot prove this any more than anyone else can disprove it.
Its all assumption, all i can say is look at the size of my lump of bud and then look at your own.
I only have a 400 watt lamp.

Once flowering has begun i remove leaves here and there nearly every day and its always been a good thing and yes i have tried not removing them with worse results.

There are loads of things I did wrong (ish), such as laying off the Nutes for a while for fear of nute burn, not using a fan & most importantly (I think) letting them get way to bushy so that only the top canapys got light, I tried to rectify this by putting a 250 w cfl hanging down one side, but it was too late to really beef up the lower buds.

Oh well, you grow & you learn...

I am still concerned to why the leaves went all autumnal though, as I said, thought it was temps, but the rad did not really rectify the colouring at all?

Plants flower and consume and drop their leaves when near to or right near harvest time.
This is natural and just not seen so much in many pics as most people will trim these away before taking pics:joint:

I have now taken off all the ripe buds
and the ones which are left probably
need another 7-10 days.

Should I give them a little feed as I
have been using water only for the
last 2-3 weeks and am worried that
they will not ripen up due to lack of
food?

I was thinking maybe a little feed
tonight then water only for the rest
of the time?

Thanks...

Oh No...they have turned hermi on me :~(

Just been to check them & there are loads of little green seeds starting from come out of the bud.

This is 40% of the crop, noooooooooooooo...

Stupid question but can the pollen from these if transported via clothing effect the other 60% which I have already chopped and have drying?

I know that if you have live plants it will, but unsure on if your buds are already chopped?

Tks

I have had 4 crops of the church and had the same reddish purple leaf trait. The temperatures were 65 at night and 80 during the day. This is j

Oops, this is just normal for the strain I believe. I've also tried trainwreck and white rhino from greenhouse and neither of them had the color change.

Hi Guys,

Some of the leaves on my plant are turning light green & then red or purple towards the tips.

Have recently used phosphorus plus for the first time (5 Weeks into flowering) so could be nute burn, but the according to all the guides the above signs are of a phosphorus deficiency.

Any ideas?

Here is my opinion: Zinc deficient-View attachment 1431464
