Recording guitar

OKay so.. I know this isnt exactly the place I should be asking this but all the music fourms I used came up with nothing...

Ive been trying to record guitar tracks using the computer im currently on

Ive ran my guitar through my amp an back to the computer,
Tried using two or three different mics to record,
and tried directly plugging into the mic input on my computer

it works but if I i start to play fast it starts to fade out and become very light

I thought it was just my mic output...

but im not so sure since ive been trying other approaches

either way im SO FRICKIN FRUSTERATED PLEASE if anyone knows anything about recording I need sum help!!!

Could It be that my soundcard cant support the input of my guitar an the speed metal I play?

You need a preamp and adapter to the computer. The levels etc... are all incorrect because you need and M audio box or some such adapter. The computer doesn't have the juice to support the mic. When you play faster you create more output and you overwhelm whatever input your using for the mic. What you could get to rectify the situation depends on your computer... do you have firewire inputs or just a passive mic input and USB port? I use a lexicon Omega Studio which is fairly cheap, acts as a powered mixer for condenser mics, has great preamps, and runs into the USB port so you don't need FireWire. It also comes with multi Track software which works well to start.

Exactly what i was thinking just alot better stated lol. I just wish I had 300 t0 blow on an M box ...

its so bad that I cant even like strum fast... but for some reason I can play really fast solos and it sounds GREAT!! But it sucks because I play alot of punk an metal and I cant get really fast riffs going because it fades out... :/ Ive resorted to using effects to get a strumming sound... like delays lol it kinda works but its sounding kinda angels & airwavesish which is NOT acceptable

so I really dont know what I can do other than save up..
