ok im downsizing container sizes to add more plants since ive recently re-routed my schedule to allow me to water more often and spend more time with the girls.
Im doing a sog soil grow and i am going to use 2 liter bottles cut open for containers (was using gallon jugs because i couldent water but every 2-3 days)
I have about three or three and a half square foot of canopy light coverage coming off my hps

if i remember my high school math correctly then a square foot is about 144 square inches of space. meaning that 3ft of square space has 432 square inches of available space?

now im trying to remember how to do this part but im only drawing a blank. I want to make each plant have 5 inches of empty space around the plant in every direction so the plant has room to grow to a decent size (im only shooting for a half ounce to2/3 ounce each- is this reasonable with this idea of smaller containers)

im thinking that rows of space between plants being 5in apart from plants=25insquared per row.that is going to leave me 17rows to work with
i am thinking of placing plants in a masonry brick laying pattern on the floor like this
----- ----- -----
----- -----
----- ----- -----
----- -----
----- ----- -----

so i figured 3 plants to the first row and then every other alternating row only have 2 plants?
my calculations arrived at 42 plants, and i dont think there is anyway that that could be possible could someone help me figure this shit out? i did it trial and error the last time i got an idea of how many plants to use and it took several grows so there has to be an easier way. this is pissing me off.

cant you just use empty containers or tape? 2/3 of an oz out of 2 litre jug? hmmm I wish I had your optimism...what are you growing?

like a small portion of the others on this web site, i grow marijuana. how about yourself? just because the container is smaller in diameter dosent make it any less of a container for roots. they can still grow vertically in the container when they reach to fill the diameter. but i am using them so that the plants will stay about a foot and a half-2ft high throughout the whole process.
I dont have enough containers yet to fill the space but i get about 1-2 a day so i cant test fit the things yet

im thinking about 20-25 plants but that will probably be a bit much still

Well good for you, I am here to meet chicks.LOL. Seriously though, even 1 gallon seems too small for me, honestly, ever got 2/3 oz out of 1 gallon of dirt?

yes. i veg sog green clones for 3 weeks before flowering them. I top them when they grow roots (i cut 8-9in clones) so that they get 2 top colas and i can clone one of those to make yet another clone and the other one becomes a normal cola again

figure i can pull 30 plants in bottles like that under my light.
thats 5 stages of 6 @ 10 day intervals of harvest/introduction.
if i can pull 14 grams wet outa each one (shooting low for start in my new setup.)
thatd be 63 grams wet
-75%= me 63 grams dry
and that is 2 & 1/4 ounces

by my calculation thats 13.5 ounces dry every 2 months.
a pound is only 16ounces so i dont think that id be doing too bad if i can pull it out of a 400watt sog.
i have a mother started now so ill let everyone know how well it goes. im gonna be using 2 liter bottles for containers for clones in my flowering room
