Recommendations for stabilzing pH in hydro?

I am constantly having to add pH down to my solution. Di yiu guys recommend anything to stabilize the pH? I am using filtered tap water (through a PUR filter) so I'm guessing that may be part of the issue.

Sorry, I put a link for PH up and down. Must have been a stoner moment.

I usually don't have a problem if I go with the formula my nutes reccomends. ALso using distilled H2O.

superthrive is going to cause your ph to gradually drop. all the time. i'm using no ph down at all, only up. i'll stop with the st next res change, as st is not needed in mid to late flower, you don't want to trick the plant for more roots at that point, you want it to make buds.

How much super thrive should I be using? I added one drop per gallon when I do a nute change but haven't been adding it since.

a determining factor too, is how often are you replinishing the water and nutes??
If your water is a good PH to start with, and after you add the nutes, is it still a safe PH ? If so, maybe, MAYBE you need to change it more often.
I can tell you that I killed only one plant, and it was from changing the PH too often, too much, too fast.

I change my nutes every 7 to 10 days now. I went 2 weeks once and the plants looked awful.
My tap water has a pH of about 7.9. After adding nutes, I get it down to about 5.3 or so with pH down. I'll come back later that same day and the pH is back to 6.2 or so. I'm having to use so much pH down that it drives my TDS up also.

I would sugest it is the water. I have a well and mine is 6.4.
If you can not get ro water or distilled or bottled water, I'd suggest then treat your water first with PH down, b4 adding the nutes.

st is a drop per gallon.

gh three part buffers to right around 6 and with a high ph of the soil, that's probably what the issue is. ie, my water has a low ph, i have to keep bringing mine up...

This is what I do, I don't know if it's right wrong or whatever. Helps having two seperate resevoirs. When I go to fill the resevoir I mix in all the nutes and use something to stir everything around really good. I then check the PH and adjust and stir. I let my new resevoir sit for a day with the bubbles turning it. I then check it the next day and adjust accordingly. I've found so far I only have to make minor adjustments between resevoir changes using a 1 gallon just of adjusted PH'ed water. Another thing you might want to consider would be since you are adding PH down constantly is to keep your ph at around 5.8 at the resevoir change and if it continues up you'll be ok till it hits 6.3. This might buy you a little time between having to adjust it. Now I'm no professional at this, might want to wait on more input. Good luck. 5.3 is low isn't it?

that's not right, 5.1 is way low. 5.5 to 6.2 is what your window is, and what you should be aiming for. i'll pm mogie or rollitup to have it changed or deleted. wow, that sux babe :(

The nutrients I have (foxfarm) say the ph should be between 5.8 and 6.3. That one strain video I watched, with those breeders that got that sativa strain with some ridiculous THC content were keeping it around 6.0

the ph you need is different between Hydro and soils, and even flood and drain and some of the other hydro systems
