Not in my experience. It's more a factor of overnight temps. It's winter here, and the cooler weather does impact yields and flowering times.i cant wait

I dont mind if eventually im wrong on leds but lets all get to one opinion not ten. Ppfd is not the great measure that others would have, its even more complicated to say there is no perfect spectrum in the world yet

I honestly couldn't give a fuck about PPFD. I only care about end results. If I can produce the same yield - and/or a better quality product - from 400W vs 600W, then that is what I will do. Initial set-up costs of LED can be offset not only by the power savings, but not having to buy replacement bulbs every six months or so. But if you're prepared to do it yourself, a decent full-spectrum LED lighting system can now be put together for almost the same cost as a decent HPS system. I'm talking quality bulbs, digital ballast and reflector, single or double ended.
Incidentally, I've been playing around with different LED systems in different sized areas, and these 11-week sativas yielded just under 16oz under 200W of Samsung LM561s - twice (15oz the second run). That is what prompted us to try them in the commercial room I posted earlier.

For the sake of disclosure, there were actually 400W in that room, but the other half was being used to grow different strains. So there was some overlapping light.

These photos were taken today - they'll get the chop early next week. I feel reasonably confident the 400W panels will equal or exceed the neighbouring 600W SEs. Regardless, anything more than 2/3 the yield would suggest they're more efficient.

I would also recommend getting a power strip/ surge protector that has a reset button on it simply as an extra layer of safety. It's only a few more bucks and why not have that extra layer of safety?
Also, in the case that you wait too long and all of those boards sell out. You have other options in the same price range ($169). For instance, check out this link, it is two of the qb288 boards with heatsinks. These two boards will equal four of the qb132s or the qb120s. They would require different drivers, so if you go this route, let me know and we'll do it again. I don't mind this at all. For me, it's fun to put these things together.

There is also this one, for a little bit cheaper ($149) but the only issue would be that the heatsink is one big piece instead of two separate pieces, meaning you can't separate the lights and have as much flexibility as to where you put them. But it would still work.

Your setup is flawed with the lights a little, only standard comparisons here are short vegs, where 1 watt oer gram come from.
Interesting to know more when you tally up, many have performed this experiment here led/hps but members flawed theie results.
Still no led cob quantum has shamed the top hps growers here so thats where i stand, why hps wven gets sold would be a question many have.

Never had a problem with my digital ballasts fans must be lucky.
Why in the hell would he get blurples when he can get quantum boards for the same price? Blurple is old tech.

I used to really dig Vipars in my “freshman year” here. But, for the same price ($212 for a 135w which will SMOKE any of the Vipar panels, even the higher wattage ones; $175-200 is what the ViparSpectra was, I believe), there’s just no reason to choose them over QB288 V2s. And 600w of HPS would obviously be less efficient than 270w-300w of QB.

Because blurples are cheap as hell on ebay and Amazon, why does he need new tech if old still works? Probably not really anything to anyone with first world electric prices and for less cost you can yeild more bud in a bigger space.
