Recent doctors visit

As I am getting ready to apply for OMMP card, I decided to make another appointment with my regular doctor about my shoulder pain. The visit starts normal.. weight, blood pressure, etc.. Then she asks me why I am there. I tell her that my shoulder is always bothering me day and night and I need some pain relief. She asked if I was currently taking anything, to which I said no. In the past she has prescribed vicodin and ibuprofen(which gave me a stomach ulcer), but this time she basically accused me of drug seeking. Then she gave me a lecture about pain pills and how I shouldn't be taking anything other than OTC meds and I should just deal with the pain.

I'm now wondering what kind of notes she has made in her charts that I am supposed to be faxing to a clinic... I almost feel defeated, she just doesn't get it I guess. Maybe I need a new doctor.

well have you ever really hurt your shoulder that you have pain in? like a break or something? if not then that is why it may sound like your drug seeking, i always told my doc that i dont like pills. i told him that i do smoke weed and it really helps with my pain and i have no negative side effects from it, as i get from pills.

I dislocated my shoulder in 01-02 during high school. had surgery in 03 or 04(rotator cuff reconstuction surgery). Was good for a few years, now it just hurts all the time. In a prior appointment I had an xray, doctor said the bone placement was good, gave me a referral for physical therapy. I didn't go for lack of having health insurance, instead I looked online for therapy/exercising my shoulder. That was around this time last year. I'm thinking maybe to find a new doctor. Why can't actual doctors just recommend marijuana instead of opiates anyways.

if i were you i would lookin into a new doc. every time i told mine about me smoking weed he always asked how i felt, and what i benefited from it and if theri was any bad things about it. he recorded every thing so when i took my papers in they already new pot helped pretty much. also you records you bring to them have to be within the last three years.
you really dont even need your own doc to say you can have MMJ. at the thcf clinic i go to to get mine they have a doc on site, they look at your records asked on a scale of 1-10 my pain level and then touched my back for like half a second and then signed off

just give that bitch some weed and tell her to talk shit against it once she hits that and goes on the ride ;)

Nah but really, if I were you I would look into getting a new doctor, either that or just keep on the MMJ to her and show her that you are serious about it, not just trying to get a card to "legally" smoke weed and that you AREN'T trying to get a large amount of pills. Don't be afraid to tell your doctor you smoke marijuana.
1) doctor-patient confidentiallity
2) by telling your doctor what you have done for the pain they can knowledgably assess your situation and give you whatever treatment they see suitable for that time being.

I do agree to get a new doctor. Once you get that doctor then see him/her when you are having actual pain. If you continue to have the pain then keep seeing him/her. Once you've strung together enough visits then go to a MMJ clinic with your medical records IF you actually use the MJ for pain.

I'd have to disagree with disclosing to your PCP that you smoke weed for pain. Some will, Kaiser & Providence I'm looking at you, make a note on your chart that you have issues with drugs/addiction if you disclose this to them. This can cause issues down the road w/ insurance because Kaiser and Providence are stuck in the Dark Ages.

Doctors love to prescribe pain killers then give you shit about taking them. Yet they will not support MMJ. Idiots.

my doc supports MMJ and even said it is defiantly better than any pill, he however doe sNOT like to give out pain pills. also they cants make an assumption that you are addicted to weed if you tell them you smoke it.

All you need to tell them is you are having pain, doesn't matter what they think. They have to put down what you tell them. Every time you tell them about the same pain it counts as a visit.

That's great and you are lucky to have a good doc.

Unfortunately Kaiser and Providence can and do, as a matter of policy, make this assumption. Some doctors are hip but not many. I'm just saying be careful to whom you disclose.

And yeah, just tell them you are in pain. Don't bother with the rest.

Little update, went ahead requested doctor notes. Took a few weeks but I sent them to thcf and they called me to schedule an appointment. I assume that means they think my records are sufficient or they would have said something right? On the assumption that I will be getting my card soon, are there places in Portland to get seeds or plants and will I need more than the paperwork from thcf to be allowed to purchase these?
