good talk!

yes it is getting now that people are popping multi cross hybrids…and seaching for gems

for me f1's are where the excitement is

and in my opinion yes…s1's can spit out superior cultivars to the actual bench mark clone

and personally most all the genetics now a days are potent enough

Very exciting possibilties especially when landrace africans and se asian sativa's are in the mix

it is ALL fun!

Totally agree.

I guess it boils down to personal taste and what experience a person has had when smoking some of the finest cannabis.

Some people just want a plant that gets them high. Pretty easy to find. And they will make it a mother, talk it up. Cherish it to the end. And that's ok.

Some like a specific smell and taste. Some even like a specifc high or effect. And this is where I stand.

People get offended easily. If you're happy, I'm happy for you. I am just very picky. I don't like fruity strains. Most sativas make me racey and paranoid. I don't like super couch lock buzz. I don't like a buzz that makes me retarded.

I happen to think that og kush is my strain.

Og crosses are not og. Because your plant tastes like pinesol, doesn't make it og. Unless you have had it in its purest form, you don't know and can't make an accurate comparison.

Man, I might have to revisit finding a good OG. Your description fits my likes to a T (except for the fruity part..... I like fruity!).

Tough to find something that gives you that nice stone but still keeps you on your toes.

Nothing wrong with a purist. I know some people who only like scotch and any whiskey is an offense. Doesn't make bourbon or whiskey bad, it's just not necessarily what someone wants.

I really should try and score an OG that's legit, but I've got enough stuff running at the moment. I know I've definitely smoked some legit cuts, it was awesome and I can see why people love it and chase it.

I'm more in the second camp I suppose. I like it, but there is so much out there that I enjoy, and I really don't single out anything as long as it's fucking good.

I'm curious. How do you guys go about sourcing clones? I'd be too fucking paranoid to let anyone know I am growing. Even if I am exempt from the law. Never safe from rippers........

..... and then the worry about bringing in pest and need for quarantine.

So how do you guys do it? You must just know the right people huh?

I don't have og but the cuts I have come across have been from networking.I've met folks online and traded and also just talking to random people. You have to take a chance unless you belong to a group that is in the growing scene.I don't let anyone know where I live and make sure I don't get followed. You have to take calculated risk or buy beans and hope for the best.

I've always just seen it like finding a dealer back in the day.

I'm also a tad paranoid but if you get to know people, you can trust them. There is a couple people I've met I'd have no problem with trust inviting them over for a smoke or whatever.

Also wondering...... what's the chances that legit elite cuts, such as OG Kush or GSC or anything else very special for that matter, are floating around Vancouver. Not like I'd know the right people if I were to make my way to BC but just curious. How hard is it to get a clone across the 49th parallel?

I can't imagine it not being in Vancouve . You guys are known for your bud and how close the border is, it must be up there.

I would agree that most are renamed. Everyone wants the new thing, and to call a great cut something new is an easy way to achieve success for something you didn't even have to do.

I also believe that results can very between growers and inviroments.

Also, genetic shift where if a cut from Florida for example that made its way to Michigan, after 20 years or so will show different pheno representations.

Bring the same cut back from Florida and grow he. Side by side you might see a different traits. But it should be similar still. I think.
Yeah like finding 13 seeds in a bag and popping a couple and now you the master breeder (chemdawg)

Is it true that many of the OG cuts floating around are actually the same cut ultimately coming from the same source. I listened to an Adam Dunn episode all about it. Just wondering your guys thoughts.

Same cut grown by 5 different growers can end up producing 5 different types of flowers apparently.
Yeah but alot of ppl get a cutting that comes from a cutting that came from a cutting therefore producing the genetic drift that ppl consider a different pheno

Is this a real thing or stone pseudo science?

from my quick googling of "genetic drift" it seems like it's not possible through cloning, but is through a small population of breeding stock. I'd have to read further.

I find it more believable that environmental phenotype expression plays a larger role in the same cut having variations. Different light spectrum, medium, nutrient profile, temps, humidity etc.

I can't honestly say for cannabis but for other plants that I have done this with (tomatoes) yes it will genetically drift and have variations that you won't find on/with the original mother plant

I have never encountered any genetic drift from clones of clones of clone of clone of clone of clone, ha ha ha ok you get it but seriously the only effect on variation of phenotypic expression I have noticed is from environment.

For my personal tastes, it has he smell, flavor, and a perfect balance of stone and high. Head and body, and motivated and relaxed.

Environment plays a big part in it

Network. Meet people. I've noticed once you get something really good, it's really easy to trade cuts.

You always have to worry about bugs, pests, molds, and mildews. Especially on old past around cuts.

I've heard before, if it doesn't have powdery mildew, it's not real. Ha ha ha

But in all seriousness I treat for bugs and pm right after getting any new cut, I also run azamax and greencure faithfully as preventative. Also cleanlight which uses uvc to kill anything. I do that daily.

We've been holding and running a very special strain for years now and no matter what else we run (SFV OG, Super Lemon Haze, Kryptonite, Gorilla Glue #4), we eventually make it back to this old favorite. Patients too, seem to try a few new things and then come back and say "Hey, I really like the new stuff .... but do ya' got some Skywalker?" ha, ha.

It's probably my personal favorite too, just like the guys at 420 Magazine. They wrote this about it:

This is my favorite flower, been smoking it exclusively for 5 years now.

This strain is exclusive to Los Angeles, only a small group of people have access to the strain and they keep it on tight lock down. You will see "OG Kush" seeds now online here and there, however they are not the true original OG Kush strain, they are the more Indica dominant variety that was crossed with something else over the years. We'll have a full report on the history and fine print soon in a featured article currently being developed by Luke Skywalker himself.

While we have yet to put it through the gas chromatography machine, we are fairly certain this strain is about 80% Sativa and about 20% Indica.

Very energetic yet powerful, allows me to work with motivation and increased awareness, sensitivity and creativity. It's seriously almost like drinking a cup of coffee, yet the small percentage of Indica helps to balance for an even effect, without making you racy. I call it an "Indica anchor" helping to keep you grounded, which can be one of the hardest qualities to find in a good long term Sativa.

I really don't get munchies at all with this strain, which is wonderful for maintaining a healthy weight.

The great thing about this strain is not only can I smoke it and be 420% functional and alert to handle massive workloads under HIGH stress, and I can smoke it at night and pass right out, without any trouble whatsoever.

There is no "pot hangover" the next day, like I get from smoking Indicas and it even acts as an antidepressant probably due to the percentage of Indica it does have. It just seems to always bring me into a positive mood no matter what time of day and/or under any circumstances.

I've traveled the world tasting flowers, everywhere I go I hear, "you gotta try this, it's the best in the world". I must say at 40 years old, and 25 years of smoking cannabis under my belt, Sativa OG Kush aka Skywalker OG is the best strain I've ever had, it is my favorite and unless something better comes along, I will probably smoke it til the day I die.

I am truly grateful and blessed to have safe access to such a wonderful plant, thank you to everyone involved for making this a possibility.

Here's a nug shot from last run:
