below is what my post was before and some of the questions i have. but someone responded to me that now might be a good time for topping but see i dont actually see any flowers. just pistils/ hairs on all the new nodes that sprout up. it is still in vegetative stage. how do i "top" my plant to encourage two stems

well i kinda just threw together the idea to start growing one night. see i threw a few bag seeds in germination and ended up with one good plant. i been growing it for a bout 4-8 weeks. im not exactly sure how long. but it IS a female i have huge preflowers in two different places so far. although i am using a 160 watt and one 60 watt bulb tboth i was using for the motion sensor out on my garage porch. any how the plant is about a foot and a half tall and i have it in a 3 gallon bucket with about 2 gallons of soil. i just started giving it plant food about a week ago. the plant seems to be growing pretty quickly even though my lighting isnt so efficient. im curious how long i can keep it in veg state with the preflowers and if these lights are efficient enough to keep growing ( i only plan to let it get about 2 and a half feet tall and maybe even try to bud them in the flowering stage. even though i plan to pick up a hps or mh system for flowering. can anyone give me some answers... i have the lights about 18 inches away because they are hot. i get about an inch or two of growth every day and i am currently on 18 on 6 off. so

That was me,

ok, as long as you are still in veg then what you do is find the top of the plant and look down the stem for the first tiny branch not leaf stem, and cut right above it so your taking off the very top of the plant.

the lower two branches will become the two tops.

so if i understood you right then im supposed to cut right under the leaf stem and right above where it rises out of the last set of leaves.
and will this effect my plant growing new leaf stems and rising upwards with height. am i right?
