rdwc res size question

I currently do soil and hempy but want to make a switch too rdwc sometime in the future. So I bought all the materials today to build a rdwc and fuck around a little. I want to build one five gallon bucket rwdc. Should I go with another 5 gallon bucket for my res or use a 18 or 20 gallon tote? My main goal is to learn to work out of the res (control ph, ppm, temps and do add backs). Will the 5 gallon be enough to get the experience to scale up later on. My feeling is go with the bigger res because it will be more stable but I would hate to clean up a newbie mistake.

Howdy,

BubbleMaids rock...almost done my second grow and have realized....It's not rocket surgery.

Second time around used 1/10 of the nutes, only changed rez once the whole grow, didn't test pH (meter broke) ... result was bigger plants...go figure..

Cheers,

whew, glad to here its not like rocket surgery. I would imagine that is the most difficult. Thanks. Thats how i want my rdwc experience to be. right now doing hempy and it can not get any easier and impressive. Wish I would have started hempy from the beginning.
