Ratio dry ice to buds for hash?

Hey Doobie Brothers,
Got some extra bud laying around and gonna make me some dry ice hash.

Was wondering if there’s a proper ratio of dry ice to bud to use?

I’ve got my 5 gallon bags for the process and was gonna try with 4 oz to start.

Thanks!!

I usually go with 4 oz for a brick

I never use any specific ratio. I just toss some in until it looks like enough for the amount of weed I'm processing which varies each run. If there's any leftover I play with it or toss it in my flower tent.

I just break up a chunk, toss the pieces in, mix them in a little, and then let it sit for a minute. Then it's shake time. They used to have different sizes but now it seems they just sell the 1 pound chunks at Fred Meyers where I get mine.

So how much hash do you guys pull when you make it with this ratio?
It will VASTLY vary with different quality product, but with decent stuff, you can easily get 7-10 grams per oz, sometimes more, but rarely less if the product is good quality. This of course, is my own experience, and very well may differ from others, but after 30-40 runs over the past several years, the yields seem to fall in that range

Wow!! That’s awesome!! What size micron you pulling that from?

For larger yields to use for rosin pressing, I use a 180, if I’m looking to end up with a higher quality hash to smoke or make “moon-rocks” or “swizzle joints” with, I’ll generally go with 150, sometimes 120 if it’s a strain with smaller trichome heads

I wanna give this process a try. Seems a great way to use trim or seeded bud but I've a few questions for the experienced among you:

1) How fine to chop the raw material? Doesn't chopping it up also break up a lot of trichomes.
2) Freeze the raw material first?
3) Is there a difference in using fresh vs. dried material? Seems like fresh-frozen would give better results because the plant material of fresh frozen wouldn't break up as much as dried.

Experiential input appreciated.

I use dry material. I don't break it up. It breaks up as you shake it around with the dry ice. I don't know about using fresh frozen. Seems like it could clog up the screen and introduce moisture.

Revisiting/necroing this, as I have a fair bit to process.

What's a good/fair ratio of pelletised dry ice (g/kg) to work with?

Edit: The concept of unknown weight of "Blocks" doesn't really give me anything to work with.

TIA
