Rasol Highland Landrace - Taming The Himalayan Beast

Hello growers and landrace enthusiasts! :mrgreen:

This grow journal will be a bit of a challenge. I am going to attempt to grow some pure himalayan Landrace Indoors under a 600w Double Ended HPS.

Of course they will be grown organically. With Biobizz lightmix, Alga Bloom and a little bit of seabird Guano.

I didn't collect these seeds myself, a good friend of mine is from India and happens to be passionate about strain hunting. He collected the seeds himself up in the mountains, no too far from the village of Rasol.

My main objectives will be to manage the stretch of these pure Sativas/NLD and do a reproduction run with many plants to keep as much genetic diversity as possible while culling all the hermaphrodites and weak plants.

If I'm lucky enough to find some amazing phenos, I'll stabilize them.

I hope that the flowering time won't be too bad (12 to 14 weeks) but we'll see :wink:

Hey there growers,

Here are the first pictures of the Rasol plants.
I flipped them to flower as soon as they sprouted. They are 5 days into their flowering cycle now.

In order to reduce the stretch, I have planted them in 1 gallon/3 liter pots and when the stretch is almost over (Hopefully in about 5-6 weeks) I will transplant them into 1.5 gallon/ 5l liter pots in order to prevent them from getting root bound.

So far so good for now ;-), all the little seedlings look pretty vigorous.

Hi @xtsho . Yes I'm grateful to know him. I gave him things from my country and some landrace seeds I collected myself and he gave me some seeds and some beautiful handmade chillums.

Landraces are quickly dissapearing throughout the world so it's awesome to have the opportunity to preserve these ancient strains. The nearby village of Malana is much more famous than Rasol but many tourists have brought foreign genetics over the past few years and the local landrace plants have become polluted. :-?

Rasol however is much harder to access and is located on the other side of a huge mountain so the local strain is still very pure. For now...

@Leeski Thank you Leeski. I also love the varieties from India because there are hundreds of different landraces there and their Cannabinoid and Terpene profiles can be very uniques.:bigjoint:

The little seedlings have been in 12/12 for 12 days now and they seem to grow relatively fast.
The stem don't smell much for now. They may smell a little spicy but it's too early to know for sure.

I topped all the plants in order to help reduce the stretch.

I travelled a lot back in the day and was lucky enough to get hold of ldukka Have never and prob will never come across anything like it again love the fact your keeping the faith peace ✌ my friend

Wow, it must have been an amazing experience! Have you seen some wild Elephants in Kerala?
It probably was a long time ago because the Idduki Gold is said to have been extinct for quite some time now..

Hello fellow gardeners :wink:

At day 20, the Rasol plants are now stretching a whole lot. I have topped them off of and pinched them several times to help minimize that crazy stretch..

The plants are starting to show sex.. For now I've had 12 males and 1 hermie. I'll keep the males to collect their pollen. I hope that the rest will be pure females...

The stems don't smell much for now. They just have a subtle hashy/spicy smell.

Hi Alladin,
I mentioned indicas but I had forgotten about one of my most successful sativa grows back in 1975. I remember because I harvested it just before a Bob Marley concert in San Diego. That was a single Columbian plant grown in a little greenhouse behind my trailer. Yes a trailer park grow... Great concert too.

I grew a landrace Afghan that was hella powerful and amazing yield. That was right as the marijuana environment was being changed by the new latest thing...indicas. Later I bought some seeds for a landrace from northern Pakistan. Had an odd name but I can't recall right now.

My current plans are to get back into sativas (my preferred smoke) and bought some Golden Tiger from Ace. Thai/Malawi. I guess that might be called a landrace f1 cross.

Anyway...stoked to follow your thread.
