heh, I'm not sure it'll help your yield a hundredfold, but it'll certainly get you on the track.

The surest way to sprout seeds is to have a seedling/clonebox which has very tightly controlled conditions. A paper towel in a plastic bag on the back of your monitor or top of the fridge isn't very controlled, but it'll sure as hell work! I've sprouted beans by that low-tech method many times.
