R/P - SKYWALKER round 2

this is my second grow of the skywalker the first time growing it in coco i had another thread but due to very few replies decided to start a new thread hopefully with more input i think me not giving the thread the right title might of had something to do with it anyway today is 13 days of 12/12 after about a month of vegging 4 plants under 250w. hps then switching over to 400w. hps at the flip plants are in 60/40 coco-perlite in a tub in 2 gal smart pots flooded daily with gh 3-part flora series nutes & addatives

Very nice too, thats rare for me to admit that .....lol

I'm in Herc, love it. Skywalker is impressing me more everyday.

thanks vostok ray some of your reactions to the skywalker are almost identical to my thoughts in my first complete grow it sure grows on you once the buds start coming my first grow was in happy frog this one in coco if i dont get the smell & flavor i did with the happy frog i will go back to the soil & 4 gal smart pots i really like the smart pots i used 3 gal ones in my last grow & im using 2 gal for the coco in the past my light of choice was the 600w. hps this is my first time with a switchable ballast & was really impressed with the performance of the little 250w. hps in veg i was on the fence as far as cranking it up to 400w. as i wanted a true 250w. grow but then noticed most people use supplimental lighting of some sort so rather than hassle with more lights i just cranked it up im using a tub made from a low profile tote its 18x34 in. im gonna buy a true 2x2 factory made tub so i can get a more even spacing on my plants im really concentrating on getting the most this little system has to offer as my first month of running 18/6 with the 250 only saw an increase of a little under $14.00 in my electricity part of my power bill ive ran a 1000w. & a 600w. when i used to sell off some of my product when work got slow [ i work in construction & the recession hit us hard] now its purely hobby ive always got a lot of enjoyment out of my grows & always been somewhat of a strain junkie as well nothing like pulling out a nug & getting acknowleged as having ''the shit'' i live here in cen-cal & lots of the famed clone-only stuff turns up at the local watering holes & this skywalker is definatly holding its own & turning heads for something i ordered from the computer thats saying something pretty much anyone out there can duplicate what im doing everything ray is experiencing with this i experienced too in my other grow i really had to force myself to leave my security blanket & pass on what i knew i could accomplish by using soil & the 600w. to downsize in pots & lights as well as substituting coco instead of the happy frog well enough of my rambling i really appreciate you guys dropping by comments & advice,opinions,experience all appreciated here

i was going to ask about the taste difference between soil and hydro. I really like happy frog for little gals, and usually switch to Ocean Forest when I flip to flower. Gonna leave hydro alone I think. Trying to perfect my system and identify different plant structure/types and how to help them flourish. For that guess I am a strain junky too. You should see my stash of beans for next season

I been digging the smart pots too man. They seem to not get AS root bound in them, and I have to think that helps my flower ratio. I do a side bayside comparison but the only noticable difference has been the root structure. For that though, they are reason enough to use them.

My SW's are under 1000watters so I'm guessing that's the reason for the production on them. After this season I am going to revamp my room and might shrink the electric footprint. We will see, I like having the sun captured in me room

I have recently been tying plants down (grandaddypurps and some haze plants) and growing in tubs as well ( 1 plant per tub lol they are big ol girls ). This allows me to veg a plant for months and get her huge and not e scared of running out of room. Kinda fun, some plants are fucking CRAzY resilient.

Skywalker has earned a spot in me room for a while. God I love her.

i like the e&f hydro as i can set the timer on my res & its reliable i used to grow 9 plants in a home made 3x3 tub i made by sawing down a concrete addative tote i used to grow in 36x12 rockwool slabs i used 3 0f them & did 9 plants i also had a factory made 4x4 tub & used 4 slabs for a total of 12 plants under the 1000w. hps for awhile i ran both lights a lot of work but a lot of fun too superlemon haze was really good to me people hate on greenhouse but its pretty decent stuff querkle was another good one the bottle pics are slh the purp is querkle both strains i will revisit someday

when tending my clones today i discovered 3 of them have roots out the bottoms of the r/w cubes its been 13 days since i cloned barely visable to the camera but they are there

Yeah I max out at 15 under each 1000 water. Typically I like to stick to 12 per lght ( in 3 or 5 gal. Buckets ) plus in AZ 12 is max per patient so it works perfect for my patients and legality.

i was kind of shocked by the bud density of my first harvest they were pulling on limbs to the point a few snapped & these werent large buds either just heavy i was averaging 1-1/2 oz. a plant which i consider not bad for a first run when i built the room im using now i was using a 400w. hps i ordered from htg supply i was growing in farm dirt that i collected from a nearby town that has rich sandy soil & mixed it 50/50 with farm dirt from the fields near my house thats more like clay/mud it worked as good as happy frog or ocean forrest then i built a bubbleponic ive been upgrading & building ever since now ive cut it back a notch but looking back some of my best grows were with the 600w. & the 3x3 tub running 9 plants averaging 10,000 lumens sq. ft. my room is 4x3 we had a heat wave during my first grow of this several days over 105degrees f. i have no ac. i ran my light at night & spared them some of the heat but it was still pretty hotwell it survived without any issues today is 2 weeks since the flip things are moving right along

yeah my room is outside on the back porch been using it close to 5 years without ac my room sees hot stuff every year maybe not ideal temps but i have yet to have anything curl up & die my house sets on a foundation with a crawl space about 24'' tall & vents under the whole house i pull cool air from one of these vents with an 8'' duct fan but even doing that my room still sees some high temps the 250&400 w. lights are much easier to cool than 600 & 1000 w lights i get away with using the quiet homedepot duct fans this summer will tell just how much cooler my room will run im still missing my 600w. light ive heard phantom makes a switchable ballast that is 400,600,1000 w. switchable i still have a 1000w. light & a 4x4 tub laying around ive been contemplating farming out

i had to do a little supercropping tonight to even out my canopy this grow so far isnt stretching as much as the first one did but its only been 2 weeks since the flip so there is more stretch on the way i had a rainy saturday but the sun was out today had a few beers & worked on my outside vegetable garden some all-in-all a nice finish to my week-end here is this-afternoons pics im getting a gang of bud sites im just wanting to see them all get good light from here on out things should be looking a whole lot more interesting as these bud sites load up i chopped my last grow of this at day 63 of 12/12 my friend who i gave babies to chopped his at day 56 of 12/12 & swears its the shit so cloning definatly speeds this stuff up

im gonna try some of his stuff pulled at day # 56 he says the trichs were clear/cloudy both phenos i have are fast to turn after the flip & fast to finish as well chopping at 56 days would shave a week off of what ive been doing ray the whole purpose of my threads is to possibly help others & to pass on usable info just as others have done for me in the past i clone everything & label it so i can identify it later i also have a new pheno i call #3+ it came from 1 of 6 seeds i got from my favorite #3 pheno that self pollinated it will be in my next grow & i have some cali connect blackwater im contemplating slipping 1 plant of into my next grow against everyones advice i might add

just got in from work recent rain storms have slowed my work a bit i recently ran out of my skywalker my friend is gonna kick me some of his that was chopped at day 56 of 12/12 im kinda reimenencing [bad spelling no doubt] on my first experience smoking the s/w a warm day on the river bank fishing the only thing missing was huck finn rounding the bend in a steamboat yeah right out of a creedence clearwater song i tell ya i did my last round of training today its time to let-r-buck might thin out a few fan leaves along the way but no major upsets planned heres is a couple of those leaves this stuff occasionaly throws out i sure like the high this stuff gives you goofy not a care in the world all is well

ok ray ill try this again i have a jewlers loupe i use th read the trichs im gonna try out the day 56 stuff in the next few days so we will see ive had a couple people tell me its good this my first round in coco for this strain which i am hooked on restored auto saved content but pic blocked by cloudflair again
