r/o waste water

I'm hooking up my r/o filter directly to a basement spicket. I won't have access to a drainage pipe so figured its ok to drain waste water into 5 gal bucket labeled waste and carefully dispose of it down the sink. This will be fine, correct?

That's fine until it overflows when you're not around or get distracted. I think on average ro filters produce about 4 gallons of waste for each gallon of filtered water so that's a lot of trips to the drain but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

Not sure what your water is like but maybe you could get away with just a couple carbon blocks and save yourself some trouble. Either way, good luck!

Yes laundry room same floor about 25ft away. I just set it up and everything was going fine till it started leaking from the purified water line. I thought I set it up properly, don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Why don't you have access to a drain? If your in the basement there should be somewhere to tap in a 1/4" drain line. Shouldn't even need a pump, the water pressure should push it. The condensate pump is a great idea though.

Ya I'm going to have to figure something out I want to be filling about 25 gals every few days.

Push fittings? Make sure the tubing ends are cut square and clean. Push them ALL the way in, then lightly tug out on it, that seats the clamping mechanism.

I'm not good at the whole plumbing thing, I think I will be able to snake it to the 1/4 drain line in the laundry. I also have a condensate pump under my tankless water heater. No furnace up in this bitch.

Ya dude I did not know that. This is my 1st time using a r/o filter. Ppm was low at my old place so I got away with 24hr sit in a bucket and plants grew great. Here ppms are reading in high 200s so figured it was time to invest.

Everything going smooth, no leaks but ppms are still reading high.. is this because the system is getting flushed for the the 1st 30 mins? Should I expect the next 5gal bucket to have a low or 0 ppm reading. I think my ppm meter could be junk also. Thanks for your help guys
