I quit cold tirkey after a pack+ a day. I was planning on qutting for a month or so and one night I drank way too much and had a horrible hangover and didn't feel like smoking the next day. So I just decided to stop, the cravings were rough for a couple of weeks but went away, I just smoked more weed. Before actually quitting I tried many times before that, but I got stressed and started again. Just try to limit stressful situations and situations where you would normally smoke like bars for a couple of weeks. I haven't had a cig for over a year and a half now. Good luck buddy!

It's actually really easy when your addicted to nicotine.

I just recently quit (about 5 months ago). I got a prescription from my doctor for champix . It really worked out well. It shuts down the receptors in your brain for nicotine pleasure ,so you don't get anything out of a smoke when you have one. after a while its kinda like why am i smoking if i'm not getting anything out of it . P.S I was a hardcore smoker for 18 years.40 plus butts a day.

chantix ftw. i tried it. ive heard it can make u suicidal though an hallucinate if you have the right body chemistry. rare as hell side effects but ive heard of it....havent done research though.

on the other hand i smoked a pack a day for years. best thing you can do is learn to drive without smoking. HARD as fuck but thats how i did it. drive without smoking, dont smoke in your house and where the hell else ya gonna go? find somethin to keep you occupied and eat mentos when ya want one.

as i sit here with a lit cigarette :\

just a slave to my own addictions though i guess. good luck quitting. ive wanted to for a while and ive done it several times, but for some reason i keep pickin em back up.

i've quit a couple times. i usually quit for the longest period of time with the least amout of stress when i smoke trees all day. i quit for 2yrs because i was high the whole time and i just quit again recently and forever this time. i feel much healthier and i got iron lungs to smoke weed with now. i got alot of energy back. i would say that before i could only use about 3/4 of my lung capacity and i would often breath heavy and dont anymore. i was smokin for much longer then you have been but i guarentee you'll feel much better and cleaner after you quit. weed is the only thing thats really gotten me away from cigs. i've tried before when i wasnt smokin weed and it was impossible. they say cigs are just as addictive as heroin and coke.

I quit May 23 of this year. I used the patch. The first few nights I left it on when I went to bed and I had some crazy fucking dreams. I recommend taking it off when you sleep if you try it.

After about 4 or 5 days on the patch I started having trouble remembering to put it on in the morning so I just said screw it and stopped the patch all together. When I'd really be craving a cig I'd just smoke a hitter instead, similar acton (I've never been a joint person).

A couple weeks ago I took a drag of someones cig and I coughed and choked and felt like I had licked an ashtray's ass. That's it for me and cigs, we're splitsville.

P. S. I found it easier to quit since I don't drink anymore.

Good luck, you can do it.

yea my problem is if i'm ever out drinking or just around friends that smoke a lot, i'll tend to smoke, if i keep myself apart from them i really don't have much of a problem not smoking, its just that damn community thing gets me

I don't let people smoke cigs in my house anymore. I just can't quit effectively if my husband is in bed chain smoking. Making him smoke outside has caused him to cut down quite a bit. Wait until January, bet he's barely smoking at all then. :bigjoint:

There's a tv and cable in the garage, it's become a break room.

good call misshestermoffitt, + you get the benefit of less 2nd hand smoke! i have trouble convincing my roommates to do the same considering i'll get drunk and smoke indoors while we're having parties and such, makes it so i can't really say anything and not look like a complete ass

My last cigarette was March 10, 2007. I quit cold turkey over a year ago. I had smoked for almost 10 years..a pack a day. Since i have quit i started taking JuicePlus...amazing vitamins that i recommend to everyone. The best part is i have not had a cold or been sick in over a year.

hard candy...cinnamon discs/blow pops/marijuana helped me alot. i'm not a gum person but if you are that may help too. no more spliffs...YUCK! i don't understand why some people ruin their pot with tobacco. Nasty shit. Good luck. Oh yeah for weeks i was PISSY. :cuss:

addiction is not always mental.

I smoked cigs for a while. Never got up to a pack a day, but I quit anyways. It was tough, but just weeks after I quit, one of my good friends was diagnosed with cancer. It started in her tonsils and worked down into her lungs. She's one of those people who smoked for 20-30 years and now swears that if she knew that this was even a possibility she never would have started. I pray for her every day and I hope all turns out well, but the odds are not in her favor.

It really hit home for me, to see this 50 year old grandmother who is always up and at 'em, even wearing me out sometimes, confined to a chair or bed for most of the day. Maybe it'll take a similar situation for you, or maybe you can take my word for it, IT'S NOT WORTH IT! It's going to be hard, but you'll be glad in the end. Peace and love.:peace::peace:

Quite a few people in my life died from smoking-related cancers... Yet I still smoke.. It's not that I don't understand how unhealthy it is... Maybe I just don't care because nothing has happened to me yet other than being out of breath just walking up and down the steps....It's hard to fully understand and pay mind to the consequences of something until you are faced with it. . .Because there is always that little voice in your head telling you 'well maybe you will be one of those people who smoke and never get sick from it... There ARE people that smoke their whole lives and don't die from it ..' That along with the nicotine addiction is what compels people to keep smoking... I mean everyone knows that cigarettes are bad for them when they start.. Unless you were born before like the mid 20th century when nobody had a clue and every one smoked...
