Quick vent question

Hey guys setting up my first grow and have a quick question about the hood/fan/filter.

I'm going to be setting up in this manner:

1- which way should the bulb holder be?

2- my fan doesn't seem to want to directly go into the hood, but I didn't want to push hard at all because I didn't want it to get stuck on the wrong side (bulb holder) so do you guys think I could just literally push the fan into the hood connector hard enough and it would bend the metal and fit in or would I be better off using duct?

I'm really trying to get connect it directly to save space.. it's really hard to fit all 3 in a 2x4x5 tent and also maximize the 2x4 grow area (trying to go for scrog)

I was also thinking maybe one of those Ideal Air Noise Reduction Clamp.. maybe that could just fit over both the fan and hood, well half of the fan and half of the hood connector, and then tighten that sucker super tight.

From everything i've heard, fans are most effective when pulling air, not pushing it. I have it setup as the last part of my ventilation, ie, at the exhaust port.

I would use a bit of duct if it wont fit, not use in trying to bend metal to make it fit since that will probably make it more prone to leaking air.

Use duct tape. Don't force the metal.

And fans are better at removing heat when they push air over the bulb, so your setup is correct. The direction (orientation) of the bulb makes little or no difference.

Yeah it would have been much easier to put the fan outside the tent, but after a lot of research I found out that sucking air from filter and blowing over lamp and out exhaust is best, like moodyshoes confirmed, thank you.

Now when you say duct tape, do you mean line up the fan and hood, then literally have half of the tape on fan side duct and half on hood connector duct?
I would think the tape wouldn't really be that strong.. in that case, should I just get one of those Ideal Air clamps and do the above?

actually, now that I think about it - the fan and hood should be separately mounted so that the tape in between is just making an air seal, not mounting/super strong seal.
But do you think I could use that Ideal Air clamp and hang from that clamp? 2 lines for hood - 1 line for fan/hood @ clamp and then 2 lines for filter.

You'd be surprised how strong duct tape is. Buy the quality stuff. In the UK it's called 'Gorilla' tape.

Wrap it around the joint a few times and it'll hold. You could also add that clamp if you wanted, but personally i can't see that it will achieve much more than just the tape.

Oh yeah def Gorilla duct tape is one of the best! I'm gonna go with both.
I'll gorilla tape it and then add that clamp 1 - for my mind, way too paranoid but 2 - so I can easily hook a line to it/adjust height with hood.

Thank you!

No worries, good luck. :)
