Quick Questions About Reverting

This past summer I began growing outside. But some shit came up an long story short my plants got four weeks into flowering. Maybe three. Decent sized buds, lots of frosty leaves and they shot up in every direction. Then I brought them inside and decided I wanted babies so theyre in veg now.

What should I have done? Cut the buds off (counterintuitive) or jus switch the lights and wait?

How angry should they have appeared? Cause they dropped fan leaves, turned colors, everything.. but the buds stayed lookin ok until recently they dropped a few pistils

What can I do now? (Besides plenty of N)

you probably should have just taken clones off it,vegged them, and rode her out
what kind of lights do you have

oh I forgot to mention that.

I took about five clones from each of two 1.5(?) ft tall plants right after switchin to veg (couple days). they all died with literally no progress. so they probably weren't happy after that either..

clones are different than the mother the can survive the shock with good misting and high humidity seeing that they must feed through their leaves while they have no roots
