You should but dont have to, you can take a clone whenever you want and as long as you get it to root its all good. Sometimes you have no choice but to wait until a bit after flower to see what the sex of the plant turns out to be if you didnt veg until pre flowers. Its best to not take clones too early or pre maturity. You should grow the plant at least 3-4 weeks before taking a clone or 5 branch sets normally is a mature plant. Anytime after you can take a cutting, I just put the cutting in a half filled cup of pro mix. I spray the soil and inside of cup well after dipping the cutting in root powder and setting in the soil. Cover the cup with plastic wrap and put in the grow room indirectly under the lights for warmth. CFL may not produce enough heat and you may want to use heating matt to assist the cutting catching root. The warmth is most important when trying to catch roots. Its also best to not feed just before taking your cuttings so they are a bit hungry and will want to produce roots and reach for the nutes, there is lot of info on cloning for any plant good luck

Make sure to have a cup of water beside you when your taking your cuttings...and immediatly put them in the cup. Just before you use your root stim, cut just a little bit more off the stem, and put them in your medium!

Best bet for clones is to keep them in a hummidty dome, make sure though that it's vented so the plants can breath. You can easily assemble one from things around your home. Clones like temps of about 80-85F, and like a hummidty of about 80%, do these things and you're success rate is greatly improved.

I'm not trying to argue, but i disagree with this statement. :) I've found that well fed cuttings take root easier than those that aren't fed so well. My logic, is that if they are wanting nutes, they aren't putting that energy into sprouting roots. Just my 2 cents.LOL

A hungry plant will not do as good for cloning i agree. The plant will do better devoloping roots if it's main concentration is to build a root system. Hungry plants look for food, but if there are no roots, it can't find it, and will start to take what it needs from the leaves.
