i topped a plant and it came out sweet. two main colas just like they said. my plant was about a month old when i did it. 6 nodes or so. never ever take offf healthy fan leaves. train your plants to get better light. you dont need to take anything off. you coulfd grow it sideways along the light if you wanted, then all your branches become colas. these plants were all trained to get better light.

i understand that the plant will grow upwards, gravotropism, but I dont see how it would create more growth than without the bend?

you also have more growing points exposed to your light.

Just bend her over man!

First day of bending after getting big enough to bend past 90 degrees without breaking.

Here is the same plant 15 days later with 7 main cola sites that can be flowered at the same height, or cut for clones.

Seems to me that it takes a plant half that long just to get over the shock of topping.

No stress to the plant and the best part is keeping the main stem intact for the biggest bud possible on that plant.

:peace:bro, keep up the good fight.

Can this be effective for growing outdoors??

tried it and ended up realizing a week later that te sowing string used to bend them was severing the stem. So I took it off right away its got like a ring around that spot now where it dug in . any suggestions?

i drilled a small hole in the side top of the pot and attached my hemp string here to bend it down. bending is where its at! topping is old school, bend to get more buds...

Sure, it works no matter where you grow them.

I use big yarn or twist ties to tie my plants with and they don't cut into the stem like a thin thread or wire would. Sometimes I even use a twist tie extended to the rim of the pot with string.

when u bend it down originally, how do you hold the top of the plant down?
I use a twist tie and I tie the top to the main stem.

When i grow outside in my yard. I dont want people walking by and seeing huge ganja plants so as soon as they sprout i begin the traning process. I grow them 4 inches off the ground sidways along my house. No one ever knows they are there. But i do see people stop and turn and smell the air like wtf? Alls the cola is is the top of the plant that gets the most sun. So if you grow a plant sideways. Every branch grows strait up and they dont get blocked out at the bottom

Some pics and a short bit about lighting, nutes and whatnot would help bro, but the stem should be so that you can bend it over past 90 degrees from vertical with no problem.:-o

I'm looking for some advice on pruning plants specifically for flowering. I would like to know how to get the main buds to use the energy that the little ones would steal. I'm one week into flowering now and I'm thinking I should do it now to get bigger buds come harvest time.
