strain dependent. some are sweet and pleasant, some can smell like raw diesel fuel, while others like mountain berries or road kill skunk. this is one of the pleasures of cannabis, it has the ability to mimic so many of lifes other aromas. I can say there has only been one variety that I found it hard to work around because her pungent aroma was so offensive to my olfactory senses, I literally had to stand back and hold my breath while taking care of her during the mid-end of flowering. cured, she had the most awesome tangerine fuel smell and taste. that one was a special pheno of barney's farm's 'red diesel'

One time a few years ago I ordered a bunch of bulbs for the garden , well this one plant looked really pretty but it had the worst odor we ever seen , wife pulled them all up , so I do have an idea of what your saying , what I would like to grow is two strains , one high in THC and one high in CBD so I can mix the oil to get what I want , hopefully I’ll find two strains that are easy to grow and has no strong odor , have you grown any that will fit that ?

What style of growing are you planning to use? Lights? I have run only a few strains so far and they all smelled pretty strong for the last half of flowering. Funny that I thought the G-13 Haze smelled great, kind of spicy and my wife complained that it smelled awful. Last week a friend from work mentioned that she has neighbors on both sides that "must be growing pot because it smells like skunks". I suggested that maybe there actually is a skunk in the area and she asked me if there is a law against making so much stink and I said why don't you talk to the neighbors, but yes, the same laws about painting cars in your driveway and stinking up the place would probably apply, but be sure that it isn't a real skunk first. Some people are going to make trouble if they even suspect that you might be growing. I have never understood that. Tolerating the weird neighbors is something we in America should be proud of.:-P

Ya some people can get kind of verbal when it comes to odor , I got on a crowded elevator one time and this crabby old lady said “something stinks” and kept repeating real loud “ SOMEONE'S DEODORANT IS NOT WORKING “ “SOMEONE'S DEODORANT IS NOT WORKING “ I Knew IT Wasn't Me because I DID NOT EVEN HAVE ANY DEODORANT ON .----LOL--- that’s not a true story , someone told me that awhile back and I thought it was funny .

I really don’t know what type of system I’ll be using , basically I only know what I’ve read , Huel’s DWC system looks pretty easy and at my age easy is good .and what kind of plants ? I don’t know enough about that either , I’m just watching you guys and learning .

unruly smells can possibly lead to a ticket 'public nuisance' or some such thing. but with growers, it's gonna be hit or miss if they are friendly or angry when you touch on the subject. the easy way IMO, is to write a letter (print it so the handwriting can't be traced back to you, in case they are the 'angry' type) and send it to the neighbors, informing them that they if they are growing, they need to immediately start implementing a smell control program, or they might be getting a knock from someone that might not be so cannabis friendly. (i'm not advocating being a snitch, but your home is your castle and you need to take some control).

IMO - it's just like smoking cigarettes, or having a burn bin - it's about common courtesy and not intruding on the lives of others - my personal issues shouldn't become the issue of the neighborhood. would I want cigarette smoke wafting into my childs bedroom? would I want to smell your rotting/decomposing garbage that's been sitting in the sun for months? Do not intrude in my airspace where it is not asked for or warranted. there is a little thing called technology and research, that has produced many products to control the smell. if you can afford a grow, you can afford to control the smell.
