Question on the origins of mexican brick weed

I'm curious about how someone goes about growing such a terrible plant lol

I mean I hate to sound negative like that, but it is literally SO bad that I simply will not smoke it, period.

So anyone in the know, literally how does one manage to grow such a terrible tasting and smoking plant?

I mean I could pretty much throw some random seed out my backdoor and the chances of the smoke being better are pretty damn high

Honestly the drying/curing process is what really makes it shitty, especially because they don't even take care of their weed, plus the way they bring into the US, I think that all helps to make it so shitty, I've grew few bag seeds and the results weren't bad at all!

that's what I'm talking about, I've seen some BEAUTIFUL bag seed from that crap that just came out into a wonderful plant, heavy sativa at that.

which is why it's so perplexing to me how they manage to do such a thing

There is an even more obvious reason: it isn't handled with care. Not just throughout the growing process; some of that stuff might actually have been decent smoke.

It is virtually all plant parts besides the central stalk. Whatever quality was there was already diluted to an extent, and further diminishes significantly when you take it all and compress it down with hundreds of pounds of force. It probably travels hundreds of miles in the open, or on mule-back (or in mule-carcass) before even being packaged for smuggling.

Then it goes another thousand miles, repackaged however along the way, or sits around in a shack of a warehouse or underground or where ever for a year or longer before being sold to the consumer.

They might also be kiefing the stuff before exporting it in some cases, but I don't know much about Mexican hash.

I'm sure they have some great genetics in Mexico but you gotta go to the small towns, some people still treat cannabis as a medicine there, they probably have some seeds from mid 80's/90's! If I ever get to go there I know where I'm going for sure, I mean Acapulco gold is one worth strain!

If you do get to go down there try to find a farmer not just a person that sells for the farmers. The farmers keep the best for themselves, not unlike me and you. I've been there several times and I can say from experience the actual farmer has the fuckin fire!

I've seen their whole prosses first hand and it's the care or lack of that care makes the difference. It's usually grown in piss poor soil with minimal care. Then it's handled like shit when they harvest, which is usually too early. They chop the whole plant, stack it on the ground, then a mule draw wagon comes by picks it up then it's hung in a barn type thang to dry for 2 days. After that, while it's still moist they cut the branches from the main stem then cut the buds from the branches, throw them into a "mold" and press it with a car jack to form the brick, while it's still wet so it stick together. Ready for transport. As it's growing they do "try" to pull all males but they miss the runt males and that and hermies do the pollinating so the next crop of seeds come from these runts and hermies, further passing on those bad traits.

But, you can find a needle in a haystack with the seeds from brick weed. I've literally grown thousands of those seeds, usually to abuse and experiment with. I usually don't flower them But, I do have one I keep in my garden and it's so fucking good. Just luck that I have it. I call it IDK.

I remember when they went from "Reggie" to "mids" which is the same damn thing but they could charge more....I also have a theory that a lot of that brick weed is grown right here in the US, in Mississippi. They have been growing since the 70s there for less than 100 original patients and there are only like 5 still alive yet they have Hundreds of plants....and if you have ever read about government issued MJ, then you know it's reggie and crap, so what do they do with the 30+years of weed they have grown?

I have smoke a Govt Canned Joint, they come a 100 joints in a can.
The shit is good not reggies or mids IMHO.
I would have guessed it was an Indica from the high.
Been a while but I smelled some just this past summer at a buddy's reggae concert.
An author and one of the last govt patients wrote a book, he opened the concert with a 2 minute pro bud speach then He was burning with Burning Spear, lol for real.
My Buddy was opening for Burning Spear.
Bless,

Don't forget whatever they add to the bricks in some cases Dr pepper soda. . Keeps it sticky ... Also helps bone dry weed bricks mold which adds to the shittyness! And not to mention all the random stuff they stick into it, to add weight!

I'll definitely do that! I do want to get my hands on one of those beans! & I've popped about 20-30 of those , but only found one keeper! I crossed her with tikal which is Guatemalan, turn out to be pretty good only popped 6, 2 females out of those which were leaning more.into the sativa side, very stretchy! I still have some but no room for them! And I grow for myself only , I've been saving beans for a few years, trying to find a good strain I can make it my one and only ! :bigjoint:bongsmilie
