*QUESTION?* new grow room, want to down size potter size.

I recently moved into a new house and have started to set up my new grow room. With being able to set up a new grow room and finally getting to see another grow room in person gave me plenty to ponder on. However my main question is about my pot size. I was using pretty good sized potters (5 Gal.), but when I checked out a grow room I noticed his pots were smaller, but his plants where just as big as mine. (The grow room I saw, was the person who gave me clones. I never saw there room until I helped them trim.) I know pot size matters how long you grow that plant and what not. I really would like to use 3 gal. pots so I could fit more in the flower room. I usually let my clones grow in dirt after they come out of the clone dome for about a month. So a month in veg plus around 2 months in flower is 3 months total, roughly. In my grow bible written by Jorge Cervantes it says that the pot size should be a gollon per month old. I am just curious to get some feedback from other growers. This will be my third harvest so I have learned a ton, but this has just been on my mind and I could really use some input. Let me know what ya think. Thanks.

Ya I had an "expieremental plant" that I through straight into flower when I took it out of the clone dome. It harvested like 17 grams, but ya I knew people did it, but I just expieremented with it to see how it was. I prefer to let the get about a foot tall before I flower them. So you think 3 gallon would be alright? Thanks for the post.
