Question for you seasoned outdoor growers

Hi everyone, coming from Northern Europe growing outdoors is pretty new to me. I done a window ledge grow 4 years ago, huge mofo but it turned out to be a male, and another one the folowing year which actually wasn't too bad (bit fluffy, but it was a sativa (C-13) and was a real nice smooth smoke. It was fed water the whole grow, no additives.
Anyway, I digress, I now have a nice roof terrace and have a greenhouse in there. Last year I grew a few and due to it raining the whole of August and the girls being outside, the yield was pretty below par to be honest. Was great for bubble hash though!
The wife and I bought our greenhouse on the basis that I wouldn't turn it into a MJ greenhouse, hehe. This year same thing, the wettest August since 19oatcake. However I eventually cleared out a load of tomatoe plants and pumpkins and squeezed the girls (sorry, contorted the girls) into the greenhouse. So it's now mid October and the season is finishing I guess. I am just wondering, there are amber trichs all over the place (in some places at least 10%) But to me they don't really look finished. 1 granted is well behind and will be lucky to finish by the end of Oct/start Nov.

So, Amber trichomes, do I pull soon or not. They are only getting water now as well.

Some pics:

This is the more sativa looker, lots of Amber trichs on this one:
Pics from No1/

Pic from No2/ Also plenty amber trichs, stigmas receeding, still quite a lot of creamy white stigmas though. Looks like it could keep going??:?:

Pic from no3/ Same thing...amber, but looks like it could keep going.

Any advise appreciated on how long I should leave these.

Thanks,

DST

I only see 5 or 6 hairs that have turned, I'd say maybe 2 or 3 weeks more!

4th pic down is only pic I see any hairs that aren't white. Now I know most dont go by

the hairs but GENERALLY from my exp you wont see many Amber Trichs until most hairs have turned red or what ever color.

Just seems to still be too early from pics too me.

Anybody Else?

yeah it could definitely be leaning more on 2 weeks on that top pic... but it's definitely in the end stretch...

Cheers guys, No 4 def is like half way through, but if she is like the other deep blues she should finish quickly. She's has had the least sunshine due to where she was placed. But has actually stayed the healthiest).

There doesn't seem to be a lot of stigmas that have turned red I'll agree with that (especially with those pics - but it was quite bright when I shot them), but they all have amber trichs, that's what was puzzling me. Perhaps it's due to the colder weather over here?

But I think (like you have all kinda agreed), I'll let them go another 2 weeks and hopefully they will fatten up a bit (the next week we are supposed to have reasonable sun (around 30-40% precipitation, so better than our summer, lol) So should be good.

Thanks again peeps for taking the time. I'll pop some of the finished pics in here as well.

Peace, DST

Amber Trichs can also happen from you touching the leaves or the wind blowing them around

and leaves bumping or any other number of reasons that could disturb the trichs.

To see for your self , find a leaf with clear / cloudy trichs and touch around on it with your

finger tip then come back in a few days and you should find the place you touched to be amber.

lol this is why I stay on my dogs ass about wagging his club i mean tail around.

BEAUTIFUL PLANTS Great Job

VERY true...

same thing happens with hairs, if you disturb a hair enough it'll change color... I've seen someone harvest a plant because they had a roughed up top that looked like it was done (to a newbie) lol.... funny stuff.

Thanks husalife, well they went through hell in august, getting blown over and all sorts of shit (just a wagging dog tail would have been nice:)) They have really exploded since being in the greenhouse though, and with the dehumidifier and greenhouse heater, they are plodding along slowly like old cart horses!!

Cool advise though, I wanted to leave them but someone else said pull them which was why I posted on the outdoors. I am pretty carefull, I tend not to molest my buds too much, honest guv.

Another couple of pics.

Look, we even get sun here!! woohoo.

That's funny. and also that's why I posted in the outdoors section, bit of a newb when it comes to outdoors. Could be my only way of growing as my wife wants to move back to South Africa and she's already said she isn't going to be happy about me growing indoors at home over there.......ffs.

But when you got African sun, I think I should be able to pull a few 1/8ths worth from a plant.

What, the doggie can't wag his tail ?

Your buds look like still to many white hairs and too white with resin instead of a greyish tint and still soft to the touch. That's a trip you have so much amber trichs. Probably like Husa said. Scope the bottom of the buds and lower stuff.

I've had red hairs for weeks but only 75% milky 25% clear with a few amber probably from lots of sun and some wind, Well maybe a little Molestation here and there. I think the BT and Azamax turned the hairs red premature. I'm still waiting for the last few weeks of fattening up.

Warning: Untrained Newbie eye here.:eyesmoke:

LOL not if he is banging buds around, or knocking cups or bowls or bongs off the living room table.

Good Dog rest of the time

I've been round a few friends houses were swooshing tales caused skinning up mares, hehe. Funny stuff.

I snipped a tester bud off the most mature looking plant last week and it's been drying away and readying itselfs for my bowl. Even taken last week the nug is absolutely solid. Very fuel and diesel flavoured which confirmed my suspicions that this rogue seed was from one of my Headbands from possibly end of last year (I compost my mulch after doing bubble bags, and my 5 outdoors grew from the compost heap so I didn't know what they were exactly). So it's nice to have this one nailed down, and I am sure happy it's Headband, (wait, hold on, don't want to be flamed by Capt'n Sticky Fingers, it's FAKE HEADBAND Bagseed, lol. Oh no, it's not bagseed even though it came from a bag, oh I don't fukkin know anymore, lmfao smells like HB to me, sour kush, whatever, who cares, it be dank.)

Cheers outdoor peeps! A little indoor sneak in here as well...

Had to take of a couple of the lower branches at the weekend. The leaves on them had basically started flopping and it's due to the branch mould that I had to deal with on the most mature one. Not sure if anyone has dealt with mould on the actual branch/trunk before. I am sure this came from one of my tomatoe plants. At first the lower trunk had a patch about 2inches wide by 4 inches tall. It was as furry as Desperate Dans face at 5 oclock. I applied some bicard and wrapped a towel round it that I had soaked in milk. This seemed to remove the furryness and severely slowed the growth of the mould. Was quite happy with that one (not sure if it was the milk or the bicarb). Anyway, it has of course now moved on slightly and is killing the branches from the bottoms (well the two I cut so far anyway). I think I'll take this one down at the end of the week and leave the other 2 at least 2 weeks as recommended. The 4th one can wait as long as needed. If the smoke is anything like the tester nug I'll be more than happy.

Just to update this thread as promised. I took down the first pot and the second pot (3 plants in total). Although the 2nd could have gone longer, it is getting real cold here and powdery mildew was starting to effect it, some on the sugar leaves so it was time for the axe. I'll put some pics up of the end results of that one when I have time as well.

These are pics from the first two plants. It's got a way to go on the drying and curing front but the premature stuff I cut down a while back is just sooooo nice. Smooth as a babies bottom all things being considered. Anyway, enough gobshite-ing.

Outdoor bastard Kush.
