question about state of CA MMJ license IDs..

Hi,

I do NOT live in California. With that said, I am interested in obtaining a medical marijuana license, the state ID one, from the state of California for my personal grow in another state. I realize this will be legally void, but believe there is legal precedent for one state to respect another state's MMJ laws and patients (see California NORML website for case expamoles of this) Anyhow, my question is this...

I'm planning on renting an apartment in Humboldt county, CA for 3 months a year. Month to month with receipts. Can I take my out of state (non california) driver's license with copies of my rental receipts and utility bills and use those together to get my doctor's recommendation and medical marijuana state ID for California?

I plan on just saying something along the lines of "I just moved to California and have my place to live but haven't gotten my state driver's license yet." At that point I'd hand them my non-California driver's license and rental receipts to verify residency.

From what I've read the county department accepting medical marijuana ID applications doesn't specifically require a California Driver's License, but only a "valid photo govt ID".

Does anyone know about this, or care to comment on whether the state of CA driver's license is required or if you can just use out of state license with proof of residency?

Thanks!

From what I understand you must have a Ca state issued ID card, whether it be a DL or an ID card. And in order to qualify for a state issued ID card you must fill out form DL44 Driver License or Identification Card Application which has all of the pertinent questions to confirm your residency status within the state.

www.ftb.ca.gov/forms/06_forms/06_1031.pdf Follow that link for some questions that will help determine residency status for the state of California.

HTH, peace out :weed:

Wow! Thanks for posting that, I saved it and will definitely be referring back to it. I just need to contact the Dr. I'm going to see about the recommendation and the humbdolt county office that handles the ID applications and ask them about the state of CA driver's license I suppose. They would be the ones to know for sure since they take the applications.

Anyone else have any other comments on this issue?

Thanks a bunch!

Some places take passports but they still need to see some kind of california ID and this is usually a dl or id. My dl is suspended due to non-pymt of registration and it expired over a year ago. The doctor's office accepted my passport because my expired/suspended dl has my current, local address and I brought my utility bill. My passport is photocopied on my doctor's recommendation.

The only problem (not really) is that the dispensaries want a CDL and I have to tell them the long story and they talk to their managers. I've been turned down only once out of four different dispensaries. You could try the utility bill(s) and passport route, who knows, nowadays, in CA, dispensaries seem to really be competing against each other. Seems like there's a dispensary on every corner in Long Beach. I just got a free vaporizor (worth $180) for a purchase of an eighth at a grand opening.

Thanks for the responses everyone! We leave next week for our trip and will hopefully have a successful application for a MMJ ID card very soon! :) Any other comments?

Anyone suggest a Doctor in Humboldt county? I was looking at the ones recommended on CA NORML's website for NORCAL:

NorCal Health Care (Dr. Michael Caplan) or North Coast Medical (Dr. Diane Dickinson). Both are located in Arcata, CA.

Comments on either doctor?

Thanks in advance!
