Question about starting my seedlings under two 40w u-bend lights

My first grow is just starting to wrap up over the next week or two. Already chopped the main cola on one of five of my plants. In the mean time I started up 6 seedlings in party cups over the last week or so. Four Freebies and two White Widows from Nirvana. I had to start the WW over because the cat ate my babies (its in another thread... (https://www.rollitup.org/newbie-central/346055-kitten-chewed-off-tops-my.html ).

I setup a temporary veg area for the seedlings. I don't have room to run two separate areas for veg/flower. Anyways... I have a 24" light fixture with two 40w 4100k U-bend lights. How close should I keep them to the seedlings? Right now two of them are 1/2" tall and the other two about 2" tall (had some stretching before I setup the light). Right now they are about 4" away from the lights. I know you are suppose to put the lights within about 1/2" if I was vegging with fluorescents.

It is cat proof now with small dog crate. :blsmoke:

I hear you should stray away from 41k-50k because the plants hardly use any of the light emitted by them.

you are probably better off with 42 watt CFL's for about 12 bucks each. if not just get some smaller cfl's and put them real close to the plant

Your plants WILL stretch horribly if you dont
