Just received 2 freebies from Sannies shop... Santa Maria x Blueberry (Eskobar)
My current setup is a flowering tent running 12/12 and a small veg tent which is 24/0. These freebies are not feminized so I want to try and sex them fairly early without going through the transplant stage etc.... I have heard that you can "isolate" a single branch by using a bag or something to put them in darkness for 12 hours without sending the whole plant into flower.... can somebody please elaborate on this??? good idea?? pros and cons??? etc?

I've read something about the bag before too. Just make sure it's a dark bag. I've never tried it though. it sounds like it should be fine. the only risk is that it might force the whole plant into flower early. then you wouldn't know if it had auto traits or not.

I think you might just throw it in with the others and watch it really closely following 5 days. check at least once a day to sex it. They usually show with a week or so of flowering.

Yeah, flowering is localized on the plant so a dark bag, piece of cloth whatever should work. The problem is that if it's light tight it's probably close to air tight and that can cause problems. I'd probably try a brown paper bag or a piece of one. Good luck.

Just realized that those might be a landrace columbian x bb is that right? if so I'm going to bet they will take more than 5 days to show sex, possibly a lot more.

You bag and 12/12 your cutting by putting it a glass of water. I cut, put the cutting in a glass or water, put that in a cardboard box with the top open, keep the box on 12 /12 and catch dropped pollen on a white/wax paper on the floor of the box. I 12/12 the box by closing the I'd if it's not in a 12/12 room. The high sides of the box can catch pollen overspray.
