Question about residency

So 2 of my good friends just moved to Boulder, and I plan on moving in with them next year. I plan on visiting them within the next month and have a few questions. If I am not a resident, can I go ahead and get a MMJ card while I visit?

Another question I have is, what does it take to become a CO resident? Is there any way to make it look like I am living there now so I can get a head start on doing my "time" in order to become a resident?

Any info is welcome!

Contact the post office and have them start sending your mail to that address, as long as you save some of the envelopes , the date of those should start your residency.

When you visit, declare Colorado as your residence by turning in your license and getting a CO one. Bring you medical records for an approved condition from you home doctor, get a referral, send in the app, put all the paperwork/reciepts together, go to dispensary. That can happen in a matter of hours.

There is no "time" requirement to become a resident unless you are applying for the state rate for the university.

You would need mail from a utility/cable, not just random mail. You might be able to get by if you're smooth

Does anybody know if my back, neck, and hip x-rays from my chiropractor would be sufficient enough as med records?

The idea is to be overly sufficient. Why do you see a chiropractor, referred by doctor? Did you sustain a serious injury to cause your "chronic pain"? Where is the record of that? Do you have arthritis? If you have all the records pertaining from a DOCTOR you will be fine.

example: Patient Mr. Green goes to MMJ doctor referral found on CL. Nice Dr. asks Mr. Green about the problem.

Mr. G.: "I have tendinitis/arthritis in my elbow from a repeated use injury. My previous doctor had me on weird medication that I did not respond well to. I would like to try Marijuana to relieve the pain while I continue my rehabilitation process."

Dr.: "Do you have records from your/a doctor confirming this diagnosis?"

Mr. G: "Yes"[hands over faxed paged stating my doctor diagnosed me with tendinitis]

Dr.: [signs recommendation] "Take this up front and pay the receptionist."

I do not know whether a chiropractor records will work. It's not really a medical diagnosis. Let us know if it does.

Well Im mostly using them as reference. I'm gonna save a little extra money just in case I have to get x-rays again from an actual doctor. Just to be on the safe side.

Would there be any problems if I were to get a CO drivers liscense yet still live in another state for about another 6 months?

If somehow I get my name on a utility bill where my friends are living is that when i START being a resident? I dont fully understand how you START being a resident.

Youll need an address, youll need a Co DL, youll need to register your vehicle in Co. Having a job in Co would help too, as would a bank account, a lease, etc.
