Oh, and as stated befor somewhere in there it helps to have some afghani, but with todays heavily hybridized strains its lik el y its in there somewhere. I can even do this with one of my lemon haze phenos, not full purple, but purple leaves and pink buds.

^^^^^ negative ghostrider!! Genes get you purple. That's it if it's in TGE genes it might purple up. If it's not in the genes it won't pretty simple. I don't care if you put your non purple genes in the freezer for the last week no purple will come from it. You want purple grow this guaranteed purple: black rose
it's Heath robinsons strain

If u don't see it turn purp then drop the temps down and good chance ull gett some purple.

My platinum bubba just started turning purple end of 7tth week. Wasn't expecting any purple from any of my strains but temps got cooler lately so it just happened and im stocked. Gonna post pics in my thread tonight. Links in my sig

I've also heard about the ice in the last week. I read a thread on it on another forum. My buddy said he's gonna try it on of his outdoor plants soon n see what happens.

thats right ! DJ Short did write an article some years ago about watering with ice the last 2 nights or something, said it helped darken the Blueberry ...which is already geneticly a barney strain < genetics!

Not simply genetics guys. It is genetics.IN CONJUNCTION WITH ENVIRONMENT. Good genes poorly grown wont always purple either. Environment plays a role, and if you can trick the environment you can work the buds.

hahaha color is all genetics and has nothing to do with temperatures. Show me proof of this and I will blow you right here and right now.
Don't be ignorant. Yes temp will purple a strain out if the plant is capable. Not all will go purp with low temps. But most will. I do not have a side by side jornal documenting this but I've seen it outdoor and know it to be true.

interesting these purple plants, purple = red and blue, so basically the plant is reflecting back all that blue and red we are giving it.

might explain why some find them to grow slow.

wonder how the light levels and uv are where these plants come from.

yeah, ive seen plants purple overnight when ive left the window open and the temps got pretty cold.

mostly the stem though (i dont leave the window open if its that cold outside, not on purpose, not to get some damn color (cold is bad for plants, this is a defensemechanism)

I am growing some kind of purple strain now...I really don't know what kind of purple....but it is my favorite...

This is the 3rd time growing this purple...The first time I grew it there wasn't much of a sign of purple showing anywhere...just a cupple leaves at best....but when I harvested and hung them up after a cupple days they started turning purple...by the time it was dry enough to smoke there was alot of purple showing on the leaves and the buds....and this was in the summer it wasn't cold it was hot....

Just tought I would share my experience.....

Then the second time I grew the same strain there wasn't any purple anywhere...all green but very good quality....

Keep reading Phil. Genes does everything. There are strains that purple up in 80f.
Dont misunderstand my words. I agree, the genetics must be present. However, I have one phenotype of super lemon haze, grown from seed, that will partially purple. Its strange. Befor I said that with the wide hybridizatioon of genetics, it is likely that somewhere in its heritage lies an afghani, the source of purple. Like asians with green eyes, only possible if there are two non asians present in ones heritage. With that said, wven with the genetics present, a poorly grown purple plant might not purple. When I first started growing amd had a lesser understanding I had difficulty getti.g my purps to purple. The care that you give a plant, which is also its environment, is dependant on its ability to purple. Genetics in conjunction with environment. The genetics are set when its growing, the rest, the environment, is up to you. Gdp, purple urkle, purple kush, purple cadillac, gods.gift, pk x ak47, these are all strains that I have grown having someti me s gotten them to purple, and other times havent gotten thwm to purple. If environment was irrelevant and genetics.were.all thats important, then why would this happen. I have done my reading, dont be so quick to pass judgement on others.
