Question about Hybrids & Strains

I have been wondering since forever ago... How people "Make" different strains like blueberry. NOT HOW DO THEY GROW THEM, DON'T BE STUPID!

But, How do they make different types like low ryder/blueberry/purple etc.

Do they grow like a male plant of one type of cannabis and a female versioned different type of cannabis and let them do there thing...

Please once again I have been growing weed for like 2 years I am just curious, If I get it down I might make a new breed of killer.
