I just got my seeds today!!! So im really stoked, but i only have "1" red diesel seed and "1" super lemon haze seed, both feminized, so i realllllly dont wanna screw this up. I tried to put some reg bag seeds in a paper towel, soaked the paper towel, then puty another 1 oth top and soaked it as well, i put it in a drawer in the bathroom for about 3-4 days, and none of them cracked! lol s oi obviously did something wrong.....would it be better to just drop the seed in a cup of distilled water for a day or 2 like on the vid "I Grow Chronic'? or should i try the paper towel method again and try to find a warmer area for it?...My dad said that he just puts the seed straight in the soil and after about 4-5 days he gets a spout. Any advice for me? i really dont wanna screw this up

oh and also, this is my first grow, so what would u reccomend i start with, the red diesel or SLH? im thinking red diesel cause i think i heard sativas are a lil more hard to grow? Also, my red diesel seed looks really fat and healthy, but the SLH is almost half the size and is a lighter color, i have a feeling that is bad?

In all honesty I would start with some bagseeds just to get the hang of it first. I myself am on my first grow and have probably popped about 100 seeds and still need to work on my green thumb. You didn't do anything wrong just a bad seed or two probably. An easy method is to scratch up the outside of the shell of the seed a little to make it a little easier to pop, just make sure you dont go through the seed. Take a few bagseed plants and try em out for a few weeks to get your watering cycle down and learn the basics and then pop your high grade beans and you'll be ready to go for the most part. Good luck.

Yep I agree, you may want to pop a couple of those bagseed first and work out your "growing pains" on them. For the germination - I would say either they were bad seed, or you left them too wet and/or too cold. With the paper towel method you want them damp but not soaked. After which you want to keep them moist - if they dry out while cracking they will die.
Your dad is right, you can also put them right into the soil - it'll take about 4-5 days before you get a sprout. The same applies though - moist and warm, NOT cold or swimming.

thnx for the advice guys, i think i will do a few more practice runs on the germinating part with bad seeds, i still have about 1 week before i can officially start growing, so by that time, if i can get my normal seeds to crack, then i will feel more confident using my magic seeds. Even though its my first grow, i kno i should prob start out growing just bagseeds, but i want to be amazed by the beauty of some top notch chronic.

Ill try the paper towel method again, and try not to "soak" it this time, but just get it pretty moist and maybe put in by the window or top of the fridge, or both

the way i do it is the paper towel method then put them in a ziplock and put it inside a black dvd case then close them and leave them on top of ur tv for like 2 days max and u should get good results

what i do is put the seeds between to moist paper towels, then put two lil saucers plates over it, then i set it on top of my dish network within two days i have sprouts. oh yeah put the plates into a ziplock bag to help keep moisture in. works everytime:bigjoint:

Not to sound like a dick but dont get too high of expectations. Your first grow wont look like a high times centerfold but it should yield good smoke. I too wanted to start with good genetics and grow top notch shit but a buddy of mine told me stick with bagseed and toy around with it and I am sure glad I did. I have killed plants, snapped stems, had all sorts of different nute problems, and tried all sorts of training (LST, topping, fimming, supercropping) and now Im ready to pick up some good seeds now that I have a very good detailed understanding of just how much I can put a plant through. With the price of seeds I think its just too expensive to go in with hopes and no experience, but thats just my personal opinion. Good luck and hope your first grow is all you are hoping for but dont be surprised if things go wrong, even the best growers have minor problems in their crops from time to time.

i totally understand where ur coming from....the smart thing to do is prob start off with with bag seeds, im just really hard headed, im going straight for the gold, i will be posting daily updates once i start growing, so hopefully i will have the support and experience of all you guys.

Although seeds are pricey, im use to paying taxes and rediculous gas prices, so im happy to see some of my money go to a seedbank

I understand the feeling, and there are plenty of people here to help along the way so your first grow works out for the best.

:fire:i found the best way is to take them and soak them in plain tap water for 24hrs in a warm dark pllace when u come back in 24hr the seed should have sank if not top up water and stir with clean finger could be an air pocket in seed very common once it sinks place it in seed starting medium about twice the width of the seed under soil wich really isnt very deep be sure no nutes not even in soil use a seed starting formula:bigjoint:this works best i get around a 95% percent sucess rate and 100% of ones that make it in soil become plants if it dont sink dont plant it its a dud plus i dunno but this way with reg seed i seem to get 75% females in paper towel i get around 50 /50 male female in same growing conditions i duuno maybe the sprout moving is stressful cant really xplain it but it happensbongsmilie

dude i forgot to tell u once seed is sunk water your pot till moist but not wet and then place seed now no more water cover with saran wrap and p[oke a few holes in top to keep humididty up and put under 24hrs of fluro light not hid it should show its pretty face with in 7 days but upto 11 and as soon as 1 day i had all my beans pop within 48 hours on this crop and i did 82 of them i was amazed good old crimea blue from barneys seed

I used a wet paper towel folded several times, put it into a zip lock baggy and put the baggy on my computer monitor. Within 48 hours they should start popping. You have to be careful when you plant them, put the root down. Sometimes I would screw up planting them and the root grows out of the dirt and they die. I just plant them now, no germinating and they start popping up in 4 or 5 days. So I say just plant them. Oh and don't start digging, looking for the seeds, they will sprout or they won't digging will only kill them. Trust me I know.:bigjoint:

so when i first plant the seed i need the seed starting medium? ive seen this at HD and Lowes, but since im gonna be using fox farm ocean forest, i was under the impression that all i do is put the soil in the pot and im ready to go. Of course it is loaded with nut's, so u think its a bad idea to stick a germinated seed straight in the FFOF soil? if so how long do u reccomend i use the seeding soil? and what is the very best seedling soil?

:leaf:seedling medium is all the same pretty well wait till atleast second set of real leaves show i leave mine in until they show signs of mild nute definicies like turning light green is most common due to nitrogen issues then transplant them into your nute soil and water till u see drainage out the bottom of pot once they pop up inthe medium remove platic cover and keep under 24hrlight hope that explains it for u if u go into soil direct the nuted will burn the seed and if it does survive male ratio highe fem seed turn hermie bad bad new of course there are the ones that work out fine but percentage is decreased substaionaly:bigjoint::bigjoint:

i get best results by putting the seeds in a very damp (but not very wet) paper towel folded over a couple times and place the paper towel in between two plates (facing each other) and put it somewhere dark (try and make it somewhere warm).

and ocean farm is a bit much for starting a seedling and would recommend mixing it with fox farms light warrior (about 1/3). when transplanting i would go ocean farm mixed with happy frog (about 1/3 again).

hope this helps you :bigjoint:
