hey guys i searched the forum and didnt find a answer to my specific problem.

ive had 3 harvest and every time ive had a strange smell to my bud its a chemicalish smell so i wanted to ask if im doing this right.

i have a 4x8 flood and drain with 8 large plants. i did 6 hours of a clearex solution and then filled the rez with fresh phd water. for 8 days.

is this gonna be enough to help get a better smell? i use gh series nutes

does flushing help the smell or is it just strain ive never had that true bud smell..

As far as I know flushing only helps with the taste, but I wont be surprised if it has something to do with the smell as well. Flushing for 8 days is not really enough mate. Others might disagree and say don't flush, but personally, bud taste much better when flushed. The smell normally is quite strain related but also comes with proper curing of the bud. Hope it helps.

Abberation is right on the flushing and curing advise. It's the only I've ever tried that actually improved taste and aroma to any significant degree.Especially a good cure.
Except for my stash plants, I don't flush. But as a commercial farmer, I don't cure either. Sells just as fast as it did when I did those things and at the same price.

Try drowning your plant for the last 10 days before harvest. Just submerge the pot in a bucket and leave it under the lamp for 10 days. This starts a fermenting process giving you better tasting and smelling bud much faster.

I use hydro as well man, depends on the plant with how fast it flushes, however generally speaking hydro flushes twice as fast as soil because you dont have to flush a bunch of salts out of a medium that retains the hell out of em such as soil does. I use hydroton, i generally flush for a week to week and a half two at the most. The heavier drinking strains tend to flush quicker than the ones that are light feeders. I can tell when they are flushed by the color of my leaves, or at least that is what i use as my indicator, i've never had a problem with flavor or smell. Unless i grew a shit strain.

flushing will help.
you dont need to pH the water when you flush. pH affects nutrient uptake. the idea of flushing is that you're not giving it anymore nutes, so you don't need to bother pHing.

Have you thought that your weed smells that way. I have had a few strains that smell chemical or odd fuel like smell.
