I'm kind of short on space so i've been keeping a few baby plants along with one thats flowering. I wanna veg the little guys more, but the only spare lighting i have are a few lamps and cfls. Could i veg them to about 6 inches with 2 cfls?

Thanks

You can veg with cfls all the way to the end of your veg cycle. I've even seen some great yeilds if you flower with them too as long as you can the light to your bottom bud sites.

Alright, how long do you think they would take? And im not planning on using these cfls for too long, moving them around is too much of a hassle. Im gonna be flowering with fluorescents for the time being but as soon as i get my HPS runnin ill veg them under the fluorescents.

not relly you can grow 2 plant with 2 cfl i budding one with a 23 watt cfl getting gret bud so dont let anyone tell you that you can just get all the lamp a 23 watt cfl when you get more mone up grade them to higher watts

I'm running 4 6500k 13 watters which produce 3200 lums total a 65 watt 4100k which puts out lil over 4000 lums and a 40 watt 2700k that puts out around 2650 lums. The 2 i got going are doin great and it cost me around 50 bills for them. cfls are the bomb, the only draw back is some short out in high humidity. It's best to spend a lil extra and get ones that state they are good in humid conditions. Hope some of this helps you out.

I germinated, seedling staged, vegetated and flowered with one CFL.

Check out my Snowryder link in my siggy for more details.

CFL's work fine to veg, the HPS will work better though. Photosynthesis is mainly a factor of food, water and light intensity. Nothing puts out intensity like HPS, it IS the most efficient light to use for growing especially if you are using horticulture bulbs that have the extra 30% blue light. Get a cool tube and you can bring your light to within 8 inches of the plant tops without burning them.

I was gonna try to get a 6500 K MH bulb for vegging but thats not really in my budget. Vegging with my fluorescents has worked, but im not saying its all that efficient. Im even flowering with fluorescents and cfls, it took a whole 2 weeks for them to show signs of buds but its still working and they're mostly healthy.

I veg with cfls at first because you can keep the plants short and tight and you don't blow away the seedlings, but I use about four 23 watters per plant.
