I have two plants in flower under cfl's now. I have two 42w 2700k and four 23w 2700k mounted overhead. I have a 4' dual bulb tube fluoro running vertical in the cab w/ two T12 40w bulbs 3000k. To finish it out I use 3-4 clamp fixtures w/ 23w's that can be moved around to give some side light. This issue I have now is heat, it became and issue when I got the 42w bulbs. I give more heat than I expected. The are rated at 2600 lumen and the 23w are at 1600. I am considering pulling atleast one 42w and adding more 23's. I think it is harder to keep the 42's close with out burning the gals.
I am by no means an expert but that is my take.

I completely agree Rav. I think I am going to remove my 42w's and add two more 23w's in it place. I think I can get better coverage, keep close to the plant, and reduce my heat without losing any lumens.
When us rookies get started you wanna buy the biggest bulbs you can.... Wish I read your posted two months ago.
