Quality over Quantity techniques

These are some techniques that have been floating around for ages. I can't speak to all of their validity.
-genetics above all. you can't polish a turd

-lowering humidity in the final weeks of flowering
-24hr dark period & harvesting plant when media is dry as possible without plant wilting
-UVB (280-315nm) supplementation in the final 2-3 weeks of flower, most often achieved by a T5HO reptile bulb (10% uvb) , or this bulb HERE.75% uvb
-switching to 10,000 kelvin metal halide finishing bulb for the final weeks of flowering. typically saltwater reef tank 10k bulbs can be purchased much cheaper than horticulture "finishers"
-a good flush , possibly even with deionized or reverse osmosis.

how does a 24 hr dark period increase anything? like be willing to wager giving the plants that extra day of light would produce a better effect.

when the lights are on, plants are photosynthesizing drawing up nutrients and stored starches from the root system.
During “lights out," starches and sugars produced by photosynthesis during the day drain downward to the roots.

How much more is it drawing down between 12-24 hrs though? I feel like the better thing to do would be to give it another day of light. I don't think the dark harms anything. It just seems kinda silly after 2 months of a schedule the plant has completely adapted to that an extended dark period could possibly have any noticeable change.

In fact I've seen plants that just can't be cured of their yellowness get green again with a couple days darkness. And they can uptake water at night so the plant is probably still pumping some starches around even at night.

Maybe it does and maybe it doesn't. Many growers believe that 24 hours of darkness before harvest makes the flower more resinous. I for one follow the 24 hours of darkness, many more do not and still have dank ass buds. It was written in the early edition of a grow bible back in the day, not sure if its still there. For me personally i like it and recommend it if it comes up in discussion. The only proof i would have is a lab test i got in april of 2015. And even that top tier % might not be related to the 24 hours of darkness before chop, but I'm not changing a thing.

Best thing is to not be lazy. There's a lot of little bullshit work that goes into a good crop. You start slacking on things like cleanliness or fuck it i can water tomorrow and then you get a couple crispy leaves. I spend a lot of time with em they let me know what they want. If you're growing quality buds you'll probably yield well too at least as far as the genetics allow.

I swear my plants will send me signals like if i'm out and they want water. it's funny shit. Or you work really hard and you are going to lay down and the plants will be like come check on us we are thirsty dude. You go in and they got the slightest droop and you know if you would have went to bed then go to work in the morning by the time you get back thery're gonna be wilted. lmao loco weed!

This was started by a hoax that happened several years ago, here is the report that was spread around ,,,,,,,,,,,,,

"The Stichting Institute of Medical marijuana (SIMM), the first company to sell marijuana through the pharmacies of Holland, has been investigating the medical possibilities of cannabis, together with TNO laboratories and the University of Leiden.

One of their discoveries has been that to keep the ripe plants in the dark before harvesting could increase their potency.SIMM’s growers separated a crop of mature plants, harvested half of them and kept the other half in absolute darkness for
72 hours before cutting and drying. Analysis of the resulting dried buds showed that some varieties had seen an increase of THC of up to 30%, while CBD and CBN remained the same."


Now if you go to their website to find this (like I did) you will discover it does not exist and that there is no reference to it. If you take key words from the report and google them you will see it only shows up in MJ forums

Reptile bulbs are not the best option, with one exception the Arcadia bulbs. The Agromax Pure UV that you linked is currently the best option available to growers.

The timing thing depends on your garden, I run UV thru out, yes even with seedlings because that is what happens in nature.

I run 10K & 15K bulbs thru out flower, tis why I flower with T5's it allows me to mix & match the spectrum, the aquarium bulbs I use are not cheap, $32 each and I have 9 of em

but ya can't put a $$$ amount on gettin better buds
