quality control on fresh material

so Im finally lucky enough to have found myself a 20 elbow bag of some trimmings from up north. (im in southern california_):hump:

now i wasn't able to go up there and preview it and decided if it was good enough. But lets assume that it is.

here is my "checklist" as far as material management so far .

A. spread out material and examine for PM or any other type of degradation or moisture.

B. Remove any undesirable content from(i.e fan leaf/stems/zip ties. you'll be suprised the items Ive found in trim bags before.)

Now here is where Im kinda lost, because i dont want to mess up this bag by creating any mold while storing it, I would actually like to dehydrate using desicant filters( i dont know where to get these, home depot?)

I was thinking I was going to buy some Big ass plastic tote to store the material inbetween runs. I know that totes are not air tight. Would that be a bad storage option?

was also thinking maybe getting the airtight tops for the five gallon home depot buckets and storing them in those cause they are air tight and if I find some desicant it would be better?

any advice?

thanks

Turkey bags tied tight then into plastic storage totes. Works for me for semi-short term storage. Good for you scoring. It's always fun to have enough to play with.

holy hell i gotta lot of sorting to do.... so much water leaf....more buds then "trim" tho, it smells delicious. Cherry pie!

im just trying to think of more reasonable ways to sort through all of this.

good luck with that I stopped going up north last year after all my grower friends wanted top dollar for low grade trim they wanted me to buy everything by the pound water leaves and all. it seems to me most of them are getting out of touch with the cali market and just hoping out of staters still want to pay top shelf price for their average meds

i spent over 38 hours sorting through water leaf, sifting through bullshit. found alot of nugs. like ALOT. but there is so much extra plant material that is still clouding up my oil with MORE darkness then i'd like to be seeing.

Ill show yall some slabs after work today.

im storing SILICA GEL IN THE TOTE WITH ALL THE material

i have TOP grade bags(nugs and smallest micron sift) and LOWER(more larf/undefinaable stuff) grade bags

im not mixing them, but idk what I should do at this point.

will a massive dehydration work? would that improve some color/dry out chlorophyll ?

how would anybody go about dehydrated 15+lbs material?

if u want to dry out the trim why not leave it in the car in the sun? the weather is pretty hot right now

they shouldnt have mixed that shit in thr to start with. after u make chocolate milk its pretty hard to get the quik back out. Norcal growers throw EVERYTHING in and want top dollar from my experience. thr non-medi state customers will buy the shit anyway thr customers arent so picky

trust me 60 percent of this battle has been because they didn't take one extra step and defoliate before . But I guess when you are harvesting that much and people are just begging for a wiff of it, you kinda throw quality control by the wayside.

its either that or suffer in southern california where average indoor grow of my friends is 12 lights and then they hoard there indoor trim because of the boom.

either that or overpay.

but you'll always get what you pay for.

and my only problem with leaving it out open in my car is i dont want 15 pounds of sticky makin my ride stinky.
