QB96 Elite V2 w/ SSTX heatsink question

I just received 1/2 (HLG canada out of stock) QB96 V2 Elite. Would you veg with these, I mean I understand it is mainly a flowering spectrum due to the reds, but would this be better than a T5HO for vegging?

Color temp is ~3500k, spectrum shows a great big blue spike, which should work great for veg..

I have grown mothers from seed, and started clones under 96 elites. Here is what the mothers are currently under:
B2A38D56-37BB-4C11-8994-32C86A579523.jpeg

Dim to 50 ppfd for cuttings; 100ppfd building to 300 for seedlings; 300 building to 600ppfd for veg; 600 ppfd building to 1000 for flower.

Got mine today, they were grey. What distance for seedlings? I have them at 28 inch.. overly cautious?
Depends on how many 96s and what wattage you’re runnng, so you’ll have to check mapping...

See my dec 17 post for example....distances and resulting ppfd when running ~ 120w.

I’ve heard others say they like 800ish or so without CO2. My recent 288 run (w Co2) was my first run using par meter, so i don’t have any personal perspective.

I found even with 1500+ppm co2 and target vpd, tips getting more than ~ 1050 started bleaching.

I’d say go for 800, then when you are home for a few days try 900, and see how they respond, (only takes a day or two for damage to become apparent) backing down as soon as you see bleaching, or pushing further if none.

Your conditions and perhaps strains will have a lot to do with how far you can push it.

800ppfd is correct without CO2. That said I still pound mine with 1200ppfd and they dont bleach and I only run CO2 on occasion.

Got pics of your setup and plants with 1200 ppfd and occasional co2?

Not doubting you, just wanna see what this looks like.

Its 16 4000K DD CXB3590s at 1400mah. Nothing fancy just lots of photons. My setup isnt sexy, just spaced 1 ft apart. Have them under 12in away on some and over 18 on others. I use the lenses on them as needed. This has been flushing for a bit as well.

Nice colas!

I’d like to run our meters together, see how close we are.

I’ve run 1100ppfd at 81F 50-55% rh w 1500+ppm co2, and bleached the tips, backed off a little and now run ~1050.

Hello all,
Just bought two hlg QB96's and want to order two more in the future. What driver would be best that could run two now and four later?
Sorry if this has been asked before.
Thanks

it depends on your space

im guessing 2'x4' or 3'x3' ? you probably want a hlg-320h-54a or b

Check out the mapping (see my link a few posts back) for your unmentioned space size.

Decide what wattage you need per 96 to achieve the ppfd you want.

Then, ask for help selecting the appropriate driver for your specified footprint and peak wattage selection.

For some configs the 320h will not be enuff.

Will have 3 sip pots, each 10"l x 36"w that I think will fill out a 4x4 once vegged. Also have a 400w hps too that will go in between my 2 current qb96's. Eventually I want to get 2 more qb96's for a set of 4. Should I buy an hlg-240-54A for each as I go or buy something like a hlg-480h-54 to run all of them? Can I run 2 qb96's on a hlg-480h-54??
Thanks again in advanced.

when you say you want to eventually run 4, that is without the hps? or still use the hps? without the hps a 480h would be insufficient in a 4x4, you would want a 600h. however a 600h would be too much to drive just two, so i would probably get a 320h now and another 320h later. by doing this you could also run the 4 boards on the 320h with the hps if you get the boards before you get the 2nd driver.

I’m no driver expert, but the prob i have with the 320 is it limits ppfd at 160w per light, in a config that really needs more than that...id go 480 for each pair, with “A” version.

Polyuro sounds like he might put the hps in w 4 96s. I’d bet that doesn't last long, unless his tent is in a glacier w good drainage...that is a recipe for a fire or major hottage in a 4x4 with 96s pushing high ppfd...

Now if he put six 96s in there, 320s would be great for each pair, and would run at lowest overall wattage of any config i mapped to drive 1000ppfd.

The 400w hps will be removed completely once I can get out of the ice age and into the 21st century and run just led's. Don't need the heat from the hps but for now think it will help with extra photons

My space available is 6x15 which would make a good 4'x8' flower room eventually with x8 qb96's, replicating or_gro's ppfd charts. Should have enough space left over for a veg/germ setup too.
