Hi mate, yeah they're pretty close. This is usually a 7-8 week strain (Wappa), but they will finish earlier in winter when overnight and average temps fall. My mate has 11 stations (9x 600W HPS, 2 x 400W LED) on a rotation and yesterday cut down three of them, so he'll get around to cutting these probably on Monday. They are seven weeks old in the latest photos and could be taken now, but the extra few days won't hurt.
Don't leave us hanging -- What were the final scores?

OK, the numbers are in:

400W station closest: 22oz
400w station behind: 24oz

Both trimmed and dried. The station furthest had the benefit of reflecting light from two walls, as well as overlapping light from the LED station next to it (and of course ambient light from the HPS in the rest of the room).

So that's 1.5-1.7gpw. These stations average about the same with the 600HPS lamps, with 20-24oz being typical.

Bottom line: 400W LED = 600W HPS

Next trial will be the same, but with one plant per station instead of two, as was the original design. New plants are in already and will take another 7-8 weeks. This is a 7, maximum 8 week strain.

What this shows is that two of these boards running 200W each (400W total) are a direct replacement for a 600W HID. Not only will this save 1/3 on power costs, but it will keep the room cooler in summer and may negate the use of aircon (at a significant additional cost saving).

To put things into perspective, there are 8 stations in this room and running LEDs would be the equivalent of removing 2x 600HPS lamps (1200W) for the same yield. Also, no new bulb costs every 2-3 grows, and no 10% light drop-off after the first grow (as HID lamps do, and continue to deteriorate for the life of the bulb).

My mate needs no more convincing that LEDs are a viable replacement for HIDs, so it looks like we might be buying a few more of these after the next trial.

They are coming out with a different board soon I think it's going to be a little cheaper/better than the 324

Can't wait to see what I pull from my flower cab this round now that it's got two levels on the go, one under qb's the other under Samsung h-influx single row strips. I reckon stacking levels with the current leds is the way forward. Like stepping back to the days of growing under fluorescent tubes, except now with the power to do it right.

@Prawn Connery I reckon 1 plant done in a proper scrog not just a plant support will do you proud. Not really something for commercial growing due to the extended veg time but for a grower at home not in a rush.

Shipping Oct 1st capable of 175+ watts passively cooled. Add a fan and these are capable of over 300 watts.. .. Stay tuned

Followed your prev grows Prawn, so glad to see the boards are panning out, i learned alot from your posts

Starting to see this with a few grows...decked setups could increase yield in a major way

Stellar results. (Though I'm sure you expected as much, having already grown under LED yourself.) Glad to hear your friend is happy; saving on electrical costs has to be relieving when growing in a place where the law isn't exactly grower-friendly.

It's just a shame that despite mounting evidence (like this thread) to the contrary, the HID die-hards will still burrow their faces deep into the sand of denial. Oh well - you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him teach an old dog new tricks!

Wappa has been making a bit of a name for itself in Europe. It's won a few awards and is now one of Paradise Seeds' most popular strains. Luc recommended it to me personally when I asked him for a good commercial strain a few years ago. I grew out 10 femmed seeds and two of those were outstanding. Of those two I narrowed it down to one, which is now my friend's commercial strain. I also grow it sometimes.

On the website - https://www.paradise-seeds.com/en/wappa - GrassCity describes it as a "pure indica with no couchlock", but it's not a pure indica, it's a Sweet Skunk variety that has been worked by Luc and has a medium hybrid structure with indica sized buds. The strain STINKS (as you would expect a Skunk variety) and has an uplifting, happy and optimistic high with no paranoia. It's not nasty or fuzzy or dull-edged (if you know what I mean) like other skunk varieties I've tried over the years.

Would You know, by any chance, what were the air temps in that space or leaf temp ?
High mate, average temps in the room at the moment are about 27-28C. But summer is coming and that will go up to 32+C, even with the aircon on, with ambient temps outside reaching up to 40C or so.

We've already transitioned from four plants to one per station, as plant numbers were getting high and the law doesn't take too kindly to high plant numbers, regardless of size. The single plants are being scrogged using nets, and the extra veg time isn't an issue at all, as the grows are staggered, and every eight weeks of flowering time provides up to 2 weeks to root clones and 6 weeks to veg - which is plenty for this set-up. I've built a couple of 4000K Samsung strip frames for my mate's veg room and they are the equivalent of 2x QB288 LM561C boards and are also running at 200W each. Veg speed has been phenomenal compared to the old 400W MH he used to use. It was the veg frame results that made him so keen to try LEDs in his flowering room.

OK, found the link. Would be nice if they could fit some UV on there. Not sure how that would work, but that would be the cherry on the cake.

Dimension-wise, they're like a cross between a LED board and a COB.

Not sure how I would lay them out in our room, but I'm thinking you'd probably run four of these (700-800w) in a 4'x4' space for 44-50W/sqf, with one light engine centred over each 2'x2' square. Or two of these (350-400W) in a 4'x2'.

For our set-up, it's still slightly cheaper to run a couple of QB324s. With a bit of change leftover, I was contemplating running a couple of T5 Repitile lamps. 2x QB324s driven by a HLG-320 driver with 2x T5 Reptisun 5.0 lamps would be about 400W with a nice UV spike in there and a bit of far red, too.

Just a thought at this stage.
