Qb120v2 x4 vs 2x qb288 upgrade?

Couple years ago I built the light for my closet for vegging to replace an eight bulb t5
These are the 4k (only one available at time of purchase)

I'd it worth my money to swap out the 4 for the 2 newer models. I presume is be better off with bspec? I already have a growers choice 680 for flower, so I'd never be using for flower.

Based on ppfd mapping I've seen the 120s at same distance as 288s seemed to be nearly half the ppf.

Ill need a new driver as I'm only running a 24 volt I think

I'd end up mounting to the triple sized sync.
I guess I could go individual, but figured better to not have gapping for light to escape up.

I constantly wonder if I should have put the 120s nearly touching.

Thanks for any tips. I actually have a 120h driver I can make use of if I want to repurpose 1 or 2x120s for clone/seed

I bought my heatsink from him when hlg was out during covid. He was a member here but i havent seen him in a bit.

When I was researching what to build I remember being on that cobkit site for sure

But my real question is it worth the swap? I'll have it spread at least the length of a triple sync even if I got individual.

This is roughly a 2x4 space . Lights is hung off the shelf. Seems dumb not to if I get better ppf (but am I losing coverage? The closet isn't always slammed full like now with 4 plants and a few youngins.

More panels at lower wattage is almost always the best option. I dont remember the 120 boards..
I have a couple of the 648's in a 3x3. 4 would be awesome, but im cheap

I'm not concerned about wattage anymore . Switching to all led (plus the 680 is almost always dimmed it puts out an insane amount of light.. foxtail when on full blast

You dont read alot about growers choice here, but on icmag they're everywhere. Look like quality lights.

I originally got the 420 and by chance of shipping issues and other things I was given a 680 as a free testing light lol.. then sold the 420 on ebay. Was suppose to ship within 4 weeks . Took 2 mo and they kept saying it's shipping tomorrow. So I gave em deadline or I wanted the 680 . They missed the deadline

It puts out nice nugs. I think both photos here are frosted valley (the cured one is). I pull 4 to 5oz on some plants with light dimmed to 80% sometimes one more down too

Any reason why you want to swap and not just add to what you have and run softer?

I'd check the voltages though cuz I'm nit sure they're the same

Such a small space I don't think I need to push 1000ppf in a 2x4 . Sometimes it's only a couple of plants. And wasn't looking to run another driver for 18hrs

I don't mean add wattage, I mean spread it over more boards for extra efficiency, if they're the same voltage that is

Oh you mean 2x288 and 2x120 on the same 240 driver?

The 288 listed 3000ma a 56v
The 120 says 2800 at 64 watts, but wait if I have 48v driver that's not enough to push a 56v board is it? Or does it just run soft? I know Jack about voltage etc

I meant all your existing boards in addition to some 288s
but Ah no if the boards are not the same voltage it wouldn't work.

New question.
Driver died . I can replace driver for the 4x qb120 v2 4k spec
Or
I can buy 2x qb272 rspec and it's driver and swap out 2 qb120 panels which will give me some 3k and far red in veg.
I originally wanted 3k 120s but hlg was sold out when I got em.

Is this a waste of the extra 110$

Side question. My build is a 2x4 type set up.
What makes more sense.

No matter what you do in there it will be plenty of light for your space. I have 2 648's side by side and they cover a 3x3 fine.
You could probably spread your light best by putting the smallest on center to take advantage of their overlap and place the bigger outside on either end. A single sideways qb covers 2' easy widthways

Yeah I mean I know the 4x qb120 were plenty but the spectrum is 4k and I feel like I get mad slow growth . Figured good opportunity to make a minor upgrade.

Driver and boards won't land till next friday, so I'll have to deal with soft lights in veg till then
