Putting Cut Buds in Cup of Water

Here's what happened when I put a cut bud in water and put it under a 60w replacement LED bulb inside a container, which I use for cloning normally. I didn't want a lot of air movement. Anyway, it got noticeably more resinous after 12 hours of that. BTW, when you put a cut plant in water you have to get it in there within about 5 seconds of making the cut. If you have a sprayer you can just spray the cut end right away and then you'll have more time.

What week of flower did you cut it?

Water drying? Or cloneing? Or something else. If you want to water dry you don't need the light. You are probably on to something. How long do you keep the light on it.
When a cut is placed in water it will realese some of it's nutrients. If it's kept under a light for about a week or 2 still alive it will start making rooting hormone. Have heard mixed reviews about water drying ,, mostly not good when it comes to flavor but should be smooth smoke.. maybe take it out of water after a couple hours.. idk.. hope this helps

It was a 10 weeker, so already ripe enough. I only had it there for one day, 12 hours as usual. If anyone does this they would need to continue the short days. When I've rooted cuttings late in flower, changing to long days, I noticed that the trichs stay small. So apparently you need continued short days for trich swelling.

BTW, trich size is an often overlooked trait that should be selected when breeding seeds. That's why GG4 is so high in potency, unusually large trich heads. White Cookies looks coated but the heads are tiny. What you see is mostly trich stalks, which are very long in that strain. It's still fairly potent but can never get above mid-grade due to small trich heads. In hash producing countries they select for large trichs, but I haven't heard of modern seed breeders watching for that particular trait. I've noticed a lot of sativa dominant hybrids suffer from tiny trich heads. The bud in the cup isn't WC though, it's a NLxBB I'm trying, World of Seeds. Seems pretty good but mostly stretchy phenos. It was some seeds I had around for a while. I thought maybe I could find a large trich pheno with an old school strain and I did actually, not the one shown. That one is a medium trich pheno.
