I am a 100% newb and have never grown before. This is a first for me. This is an indoor grow using a 4x4 tent, soil and LED lights with 10 Atomic Haze Sativa seeds and 5 mystery seeds. I have done a tonne of research and I hope my experiences can help someone down the road .

I am currently setup as follows:

4x4 mylar grow tent
10 Dr. Atomic Haze Sativa seeds
5 mystery seeds
1 x 200 watt using BridgeLux LEDs (90x3w) Red:Blue - 80 Red: 10 Blue (Square shape)
1 x 90 watt using BridgeLux LEDs (90x1w) Dont have the specifics but its Red:Blue:Orange (UFO shape)
Miracle-Gro multipurpose fertilizer
1 drip pump watering system
1 spray bottle
1 water bottle
1 bonsai scissors
1 mahjong table
Soil - made up of potting soil, sand, perlite and earthworm castings
15 - take out containers about 2" by 3"
15 - plastic containers about 3" by 5"

Germination
Germination Day 1 - germinated 15 seeds
Germination Day 4 - 10 seeds cracked and 5 sitting pretty. Moved all seeds to paper towel method.
Germination Day 5 - planted 9 seeds with 1cm tap roots and continued to germinate 6 seeds using the towel.
Germination Day 6 - All the seeds have cracked and planted another 2 seeds
Germination Day 7 - 2 plants have started to grow. One more still on the wet towel and 3 seeds were planted. All planted seeds are now being exposed to LED.
Germination Day 8 - 9 plants now have leaves and one seed still under the wet paper method.

Seedling
Seedling Day 1 - 14 seeds have sprouted leaves. Final seed has been planted.
Seedling Day 2 - Watered the plants today and put down worm castings around the base of the plants.

I currently have the square and UFO leds about 18 inches from the top of the plants and running 18/6. The temperature is about 24 degrees celsius and I have all the vents open and am blowing air through a fan with two open windows.

I need to get some more LEDs and I am thinking a 300w using 3w diodes and a 90w also using 3w diodes. That should take me over 50 watts per square foot. I also plan to move the plants from the take out containers into some larger plastic containers once they have at least 2/3 nodes or I see the roots at the bottom. The plan is to move them over to full time containers after that. I am currently growing 15 plants and I know there is no way these can fit in the tent. My hope that a few of the mystery seeds will die off and eventually 1/2 the Atomic Haze turns out to be female leaving me with about 5-8 plants.

I am currently using a regular floor fan but I have ordered two clip fans to clip to the grow tent. I have also ordered a humidifier, PH gauge and humidity gauge.

If anyone has any questions or advice please let me know.

Pictures coming soon

I will probably start flowering around the 2 month stage. I am currently watering the plants every two days. I believe two of the plants are not Sativa's but are Indica's. Do you have any suggestions?

I am getting the feeling my seedlings are stretching. They are averaging about 2" - 3" in length so I packed some more soil into each container to shorten the stem. I also lowered my lights about 4".

I picked my seeds at the Vancouver Seed Bank. Sorry I made a mistake they are Atomic Haze and not Purple Haze.

i really like the setup. leds will produce quality flowers.

you cant tell indica from sativa yet.

i would not veg so long unless you plan to lollipop hard. leds dont shine through very well, so you should probably veg for 4 weeks or so and they will be big enough (if conditions are good)

All right folks I have run into my first problem.

There are yellow patches on the tips of some of my leaves. I have included a photo below.

From what I have read my LEDs maybe too close as I did lower the lights by a few inches yesterday. I have raised the LEDs to 15" above the leaves. I am also using bottled water to feed the plants with no nutes.

Let me know what you think.

I put something together myself using some soil, worm castings, sand and perlite
. I actually put the worm castings a few days ago on a small pile around the stem. I have flushed everything with water and made a huge mess at home. I have also lowered my lights since that wasn't the issue. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

Well its a day later and the yellow is still on the leaves but has not progressed further. The second sets of leaves are appearing on most of my seedlings. I have included some photos and you can see a bit of the yellow on the tips. I wont water for another two days as I soaked the pots when I flushed them with water.

Well its Day 6. My latest 200W led arrived. Its the same as the other one I have that seems to be working well. I have included some pictures of my setup. I have the LEDs at 14" and may raise or lower it depending on how things go. I am using the light meter on the cheap 3 in 1 and all areas are reading 1000 or higher. Whatever that means.

A few of my seedlings have yellow spots on the tips and I have flushed and it seems to have stopped things from getting worse. I have one that started to curl at the tips and I am hoping that will get sort itself out and the flush works. I have another two that are very small compared to the others. I am almost 100% sure that those are 2 of the 5 mystery seeds. I have included my latest pictures. IMG_5516.jpgIMG_5517.jpgIMG_5518.jpgIMG_5519.jpgIMG_5520.jpgIMG_5521.jpg

dont be afraid to raise them lights another foot and toss a fan in there for air circulation.

you want a light breeze blowing right on them seedlings to help them strenthen thier stems.

Well its day 8 and some of my babies are doing well and a few others not so well. I have further adjusted my lights. I turned off the 90w LED and now I am running just the two 200w LEDs. I have also raised them higher two just over two feet high. I think that my babies were starting to get burned.

I have a few questions. The first two pictures are of my mystery seeds and I believe they are borderline dead. Probably from the burn from the lights. The other two have yellow on the main set of leaves but the secondary set of fan leaves look ok. The final picture is of one of my normal babies. Do you guys have any feedback on the two mystery seeds as well as the ones with the yellow leaves?

yeah man looks like heat stress, dump the other 200w LED and just run one, get a nice fan inside the tent for air circ and then get something exausting at the top of your room.

i wasnt thinking and didnt realize you had 2x 200w LED and a 90w LED on them....thats a shit load of LED.

the wattage on LED are much different than wattages on HID lights, 400w of LED is similar to 800w of HID...

also dont give up hope on them mystery seedlings yet, you would be surprised how rugged these lil guys can be, they can also be verry fragile.....

better yet im thinking you may be best off dumping both 200w LED and just running the smaller 90w LED about 2ft above them........seedlings dont need that much light because they dont have alot of foliage to penetrate and photosynthesize....

good luck man, hope you get some more opinions than just mine as im not perfect and dont always think of everything. this is just what i would do....seedlings dont need 290w of any light though nvm LED

Edit: also if its any conselation i put my seedlings right under a 400w MH but the lamp is 4+ ft above them and my tent is verry well ventilated. .

I have turned off the two 200w LEDs and just kept on the 90w LED. Its a lot darker but I will give it a try. I think those mystery seeds may have leaves that got baked. The temperature in my tent runs from about 26 - 28.5 degrees celsius.

What do you think about the yellow leaves? Just ride it out?

Are you sure 90w is enough light? Should I leave it at the same height?
