Pure Cocoa Butter

Hey MelloKitty - I'm brand new to this forum and joined just so I can get in on this conversation...did you arrive at a solution with the cocoa butter? I've been researching the same problem myself. I've extracted using a pressure cooker and coconut OIL to really good effect and plan to do the same with cocoa BUTTER. Biggest issue is mixing the active product into the chocolate. I don't want to make a ganache - I want to make a final solid chocolate bar...concern is that the chocolate won't solidify after adding the additional cocoa butter...I suppose I can experiment with inert cocoa butter and chocolate first...oh FYI- I got around having to deal with the tempering issue by ordering a non-temper chocolate from a source online - good quality, affordable, and saves a boatload of time if you're planning to make a bunch of bars for gifts or something. Also, prevents you from having to spike the temp past 90F which is good security against frying your THC once ultimately added in with the chocolate.
Anywho - what have your experiences been - any luck?
no, i haven't made ANY active progress yet... (learning buttloads about chocolate-making though...)
i was thinking of trying a little bit with the "sun method" once it's warm enough out (which it isn't here yet).
i had the same idea, i want to make hard chocolate; and i figured if i used 'happy' cocoa butter, i'd get 'happy' chocolate', and it's not like the temperatures required to add the cocoa butter to the solids isn't *that high, right? also considering using some 'happy' milk to make it into milk chocolate.... which brings us to...
thanks for the tip on the non-temper chocolate! i have *zero* chocolate-making experience so anything is appreciated.

haven't tried extracting with cocoa butter yet..... but i DID make a nice topical cream with about 1/4 coconut-canna oil and 3/4 cocoa butter which was quite nice. (it's like a "body butter" in texture.)
i've also been adding it to my canna-chocolates to harden up the texture a bit, but again, i'm using my standard coconut-canna (i do all my medibles with coconut oil these days) and adding unadulterated cocoa butter to it. i'll post some recipes once i wake up
after having seen how it (cocoa butter) behaves at various temps, i think if i'm going to extract with a solid carrier oil i'll stick to coconut (the cocoa solidifies WAY faster).... and if i want to try a harder "wax"-like substance i think i might experiment with stearic acid -- it's supposed to be higher in fatty acids (plus it's cheaper than cocoa -- about half the price from my supplier).

right now i'm waiting on some beeswax and roll-on bottles so i can make lip gloss......

Thanks for the update mello. I'm digging deeper and finding that the coconut oil is the better way to go. I have a vegan friend I am wanting to make edibles for without using vegetable oil. Do you have a recommendation for cookies that use oil instead of butter? :peace:

one of the fantastic things about coconut oil is that it behaves very much like butter at room temperature, so you can swap it straight across for most recipes that call for butter.

allrecipes.com is a great recipe site, but if you just want some basic drop cookies or shortbread, let me know.......

well Mello hello. I didn't know you had another thread. I guess I should go looking around more often. I have coconut oil sitting i my cabinet and haven't tried it yet. I am in the process of doing a citric acid extraction. I hope it turns out. It would be great to just make a cup of tea and drop a bit in there to help me sleep. I mean, I LOVE all the caramel corn, and cookies, and candy, and other edibles I have been making, but my ass would have to disagree.
