Providing Fresh air into room Question....

ok guys so i been searching and searching for an answer but cant find one.

i got a somewhat sealed grow room (room inside a room) 11 x12 x 7(924 sqft) i have been able to control the tempeture through a window ac unit. but since the window unit only cools down air that is allready in the room how do i bring in fresh air safely?

Here are my questions :

does the exhast fan i get need to be higher then 924sqft to scrub the odors? or can i work with something smaller for this sized room?

will the fan be running at all times?

now the question on top has me confused. some people say to exchange ur air every 5 minutes or once every hour. now by doing this and if i added intake ports to my room wouldent air leak throught the intake ports when the exhaust fan is off thus giving out the smell?

also my window ac has an option to open a vent and close it. does this feature on my ac benefit me at all?

thanks in advanced

Your measurement is in square feet the way you did the math was correct but your answer is in cubic feet. you take that 924ft3 and divide it by 5 giving you 188.8 that is how many cubic feet per minute or CFM you need to exhaust the room properly. i would go with a 6" centrifugal fan they are usually rated for 264 cfm or around there. hope it helps if not here is a link to Subcools thread on venting and fans https://www.rollitup.org/subcools-old-school-organics/50791-venting-grow-room-efficiency-get.html

If it's sealed with ac you need co2 and a dehumidifier and you just use a carbon filter and fan recirculating the air inside the room. It stays on 24 x 7 and doesn't vent any air.

If you are venting the air inside the room an ac won't do much good as you'll be sucking out the cold air as fast as it's produced. You also wouldn't need co2 for the same reason and the depleted air would be sucked out bringing in fresh air. In this case you would conect the carbon filter to your exhaust fan and scrub the air as it is exhausted and the room is vented 24hrs a day.

Your room is 132 sq feet and 924 cubic feet. With a 6" fan running at about 450 cfm it would exchange the air in the room every 2 minutes which would be fine. It would also create negative pressure in the room which keeps the smell from escaping except through the carbon filter.

good luck

ty both of you guys basically u answered all my questions and more that came up.

one last final one is which one of these setups is the best to run?

Can really say which one is best. The sealed, co2, ac, dehum room would give you the most control however it's more complicated and more expensive to run. If you are just running 1 light than I would just vent the room if you can.

Keep it as simple as possible.

hey guys so i decided to have fresh air coming air vs a sealed room. now to select the right carbon filter, do i need to get a filter rated to handle 188 sqft + 30% more. or do i need to get a filter rated 435 + 30%? which is my fan speed. i went and bought valueline fan 435 sqft

thanks in advance.

you need a filter that isn't higher cfm than your fan so if your fan is say 450 cfm then your filter has to be at least 450 cfm, if your fan is a 6 inch then most 6 inch filters will be good.
