Does anybody know why the recommended dosage from any nute company is way high?

What is the opinion of the board regarding the right EC level for cannabis. I know there will be varying opinions but we can hash all that out here.

I am using COCO coir.

i use coco also.

from clone to veg i start out EC 0.8 and slowly increas it week by week to by flowering im up to 2.0 then i slowly increas it to 2.4 and in the last week i back in down to 1.2. u dnot flush at the end with coco caz u kill u wash away all the good bacteria in the medium

most important things.
-make sure you run to waste.
-when you feed make sure you get atleast 15-20% run off
-treat it as hydro, feed every 4 hours from lights on and they will really grow.

good luck

Hi
My journal has lots of good info for coco growers from things I have learned the last 5 yrs using coco coir
Im not sure if your meter is rated at 1.0 ec = 500ppm or 700ppm some companies are different I use Bluelab it is 500ppm per 1.0 ec or 10cf
after seedling has sprouted and third or fourth set of leaves it begins to yellow I start with 200 to 250 ppm or with my meter .5 ec feed water with 5.5 to 5.6 ph R.O. water for 7 to 10 days then feed 500ppm or 1.0 ec then water for 7 to 10 days as leaves tell me when to feed also a must with coco WATCH YOUR PH in the MEDIUM it will rise not so much with canna line but flush very well every two to three weeks this get ph back down in the medium and to flush out nutz that have leached onto coco.
My mothers are 4 1/2 ft tall and take 1000. to 1100 ppm to keep them happy under a 454 8x t5 4'cfl
My bloom room they are 5' tall and so far at week two are taking 1200 to 1300 ppm with no CO2 yet but phat bowls
Good LUCK and Happy growing

the reason nute companies suggest such high feed rates is so you'll quickly use it up, and go buy more! imagine that, a company wanting to make more money, lol! i wish they'd just tell the truth. in coco, you don't need use super high feed rates. i never get much higher than 8-900 ppm. and you don't need to flush with coco until you're nearing the end of flower, that's the purpose of getting 15-20% run-off at each feed. this acts as a flush making plain water flushes unnecessary.
