the local stores only carry promix bx, does anyone know of a store that carries "hp" in the metro detroit area?

dam you guys are helpful. thanks a bunch

glad, i'm just trying it out since i haven't used it before. from my understanding is that hp has more perlite and bx has more peat, i could be wrong.

That super store Menard's is carrying it - damn 11% off

FYI I found promix hp to be light - like FF ocean forest. I prefer Happy Frog, its heavier, holds moisture longer.

well apparently the only difference between hp and bx is more perlite in hp. peat has nothing to do with it. hp costs more too. so, just add perlite to bx with your own perlite for cheaper. promix has a new mix called hp-cc which has coco coir in it. interested in trying it. anyone had experience with hp-cc?

I use the #4. I get my bales from my local nursery. $35.00 for 3.8 cu. ft. They also have an organic #4 for $40.00. I have used both.
My problem is my local nursery closes in October for 6 mos. Last year I ran out in December and payed up the ass for FFOF until they re-opened in march.
this year I am buying two bales in the fall.
After reading this post, I am now going to inquire about some of the other products available. Not getting caught with my pants down this year.
HGK420, the #4 is peat and perlite, no coco.

the "advanced #4" is the one with the coco in it. the yellow bale. its the only one I've found that keeps my PH good to go.

I'm trying a batch out right now thats just coco and perlite. seems to be doing great. little cheaper too.
