Funny, I echoed this same sentiment in a different thread...great minds think alike, but it blows my mind how they come to different conclusions like we do

I wouldnt be one of the people dancing in glee. Maybe they will just keep ignoring it, instead of convincing everyone somehow it would be a good idea to burn the constitution and celebrate. I think the dumb monkeys in this country can be convinced of anything, at least the majority of them.
Why care? We don't use the thing, might as well sell off little strips to billionaires to wipe their asses with.
I like the constitution, and id rather we just used it, but since we dont, and probably never will again, fuck it.

I am willing to support Republican candidates financially; and campaign for them for the purpose of driving the Democrats from power.
But I will not vote Republican.
For this I should be shunned according to the the Gospel of Choad.
Happily he does not make my decisions for me.

The OP, Paul Ryan, can stay. Actually, a lot of conservative Republicans can stay...every damn D must go, though...starting with the R's who voted D on the bailouts and the government takeover of health care.

As much as I hate to say it, a third party candidate is not the answer. We tried this with Perot, remember? It got Clinton elected for a second term. The only thing that saved us that time was a Republican congress and senate that forced Clinton back toward the middle. Remember the Clinton quote? "The era of big government is over." I believe the answer is to take a chance on the Republicans again with the following proviso: Hold their feet to the fire of the Constitution. If they start to stray from constitutional principles, if they start their prolific spending again, if they go against the principles of freedom and liberty in any way, then we have to make their town hall meetings look like WWII. Things are so far gone now that electing these guys to office, then just sitting back and not paying attention, will no longer work.
And by the way, the TEA Party movement isn't about getting Republicans elected. Its about getting CONSERVATIVES elected.

i was talking about a change to the electoral system in which the candidate would only need the most votes out of the total, not need more than 50% of the electoral votes.
